What's with all of these "remastered" games for PS4/Xbone?

I just caught wind that they're remastering Borderlands 2 and Borderlands the Presequel together as a bundle pack... thing, for the PS4 and Xbone.
I thought the whole point of buying the next gen consoles is to play new shit, not shit that came out less than a year ago.
Boy am I glad I went with a Wii U and PC this generation, so I can play Nintendo's franchises that've been going on for like 20 fucking years on the Wii U and Doom, a game that's legally old enough to drink, on my PC.
I'm pretty sure there's some irony here but I'm too tired to give a crap. All I know is these ports of last gen games to the next gen are incredibly dumb

Welp. Don't like it, don't buy it. It's really just for the people who complain about "UGH this game's graphics suck ballz!" They're not meant to be the big blockbuster games for the next gens. Plus, WIIU is next gen too. People say it's not, but it is.

I think people didn't want to get the Pre Sequel because they already moved onto the next gen consoles and having to hook up the 360/ps3 to their tv might have problems. I actually had a slight bit of visual delay and was forced to use a different tv just to play the game.

Same reason there's a million final destination and paranormal activity movies, it's cheap as shit and people will buy it, pretty much impossible to make a loss on it
