Go to the Dean of that department- that is the reason there are deans. If it was THAT bad then it needs to be brought to attention.

well i sent an email to the department head that im under before asking anyone further up. but i havent gotten a responce

There's nothing illegal about being mean.

Actually, if it's bad enough to potentially cause mental and/or emotional harm, then it can be illegal. Harassment, verbal assault, and such. Attacking someone's mind/emotions is just as illegal as attacking their body.Generally harder to gauge damage, and therefor harder to get legal action moving forward, but with a class full of witnesses that can testify that the teacher was causing students to come to tears and/or leaving the environment, there could well be grounds for a case.

And even if it's not enough to be illegal, then it is certainly unprofessional and unethical. Such behavior creates a hostile environment and is unbecoming of a professional. This teacher needs to be drug in front of the ethics board of the college. Again, there is a class of witnesses. If they're unwilling to at least do a proper investigation with something like that, then the ethics board is corrupt, lazy, and undeserving of their jobs (meaning go higher).

Sorry to hear about it and it's always frustrating when teachers do that as while there are ways to do it properly it can be screwed up really badly.

Get everyone there together and walk into the dean's office to report them, with people obviously recording it. They might be able to blow off and ignore one or two complainants but not half the class on video!

Just because everyone was sad doesn't mean he was doing anything illegal or braking any rules. I know you probably feel like shit and he doesn't sound like a good teacher, but unless he literally did damage to anyone, there's probably nothing to report him on.

true, which is why i didnt try to do anything. though i did report him, if they take me or anyone else serious is up to the college

make note of the instances and ask around who you can talk to. I've had several college instructors who have had an axe to grind.

Like the rest of what everyone is saying, you go above that teacher's head with evidence and get that mean crap fired. The college losing money will definitely consider getting a better teacher for the position. It's all about profits, losing is serious to them. Students are profit so long as they wish to learn.
