Yeah Hangout or Kik are pretty much the only things that aren't WhatsApp; I pretty much hate all three. There's BBM I guess. I hear it's not bad on Android

Yeah, it's a pretty decent multi-messenger for doing AIM/ICQ/MSN/Google and other various IM services.

If you want to go nickname-only, Kik, but I'm not much of a fan. Or Trillian if you want a regular messenger like ICQ and such.

If you're fine with phone number contacts, like WhatsApp, but just from another company, either Telegram or Threema. Telegram also works on computer and in browser.

Yeah I am evading the ones that use phone number because everyone at university have mine and they overuse them xD

Nhum, bom, também tem um tal de Kik, que é tipo o Skype. Você não usa números de telefone, só nomes de usuário.
Embora eu ache que praticamente ninguém usa ele x3 Não por não ser bom, mas por não ser tão popular.

Well they are IMs apps that you can use for your phone. Kik and hangouts and what you said above are the same things. Unless you've tried skype and them before to?

No prob! It's really cool, you can set a background for your texts, download a wide variety of smilies, and you need is wifi for it to work :)

I've used viber, what'sapp, hangouts, skype, steam and groupme on my phone.

Out of these, I like hangouts the best. Best notifications, little delay in messages, and it can tie to your sms.

Groupme and Telegram are very good.

Line is a good instant messenger too :3

Haven't got to use kik yet (then again I don't have an Android anymore so...) and mobile Skype in general does have a few annoying problems. Errm, does anyone still use yahoo? o3o

Well, people here already talked about most apps. Bbm works well in general, and I heard about tyPing, although I haven't used it yet. You also have Vine if you wanna share fun videos while talking ;)

I use Threema since it's fully encrypted, not US based and you don't have to link it to any phone number or email address.
So you can just have people you give your ID to be able to message you.
