=RRVF= IMPORTANT DIALOGUE How would you like to be notified?
Greetings everyone!
I topic of discussion over the last few months has been how to notify folks of upcoming events and remind them of such.
Personally, I don't see how hard it is to check out the FA page, but that's just me :0)
The good news is that there are a lot of wonderful folks in this part of the country. The bad news is that there are too many people to notify everyone individually (which historically has been the best method)
Some options discussed were the use of group text messages, third parry apps, and third party apps with push notifications to people's cell phones, websites that send out text messages. I don't remember specific names, but I'm counting on you all to bring them up again!
Here is a place to discuss what you think is a great idea... and what you think is a terrible idea... and if you don't care. In a perfect world, you guys and gals would be all over this post and we can have enough info to make a poll or take direct action.
Here's hoping,

I honestly think that some solution that mass-texts members with information on events would be the most elegant solution. There were some solutions that had a cost associated with them, I don't know of any free options. But perhaps once every couple of months the admins could poke RRVF members for information on new furs in town, and keep a running list of numbers that they could shotgun texts to? Dunno if that's too much work, but I know that I don't go anywhere without my phone personally, and pretty much everyone can text these days.
E-mail newsletter is pretty stupidly easy. Best part of e-mail is you can include a LOT MORE INFORMATION than in any text.
I'm also against MMSing, so each individual recipient would get an individual text.
I think a combination of the two methods might be effective. Use email, and also empower RRVF members to remind their friends and acquaintances of events. Could get a little annoying, but so long as we can spiderweb things out I think that'd be dandy.
On the other hand, I usually text someone back if I get a blank text to ask what's going on, so it'll still get my attention. =P You just might have to resend things as a personal text to my number so I get all the details.
Otherwise, an email newsletter does sound good. I check my email more often these days, though I do wish Yahell re-implemented the option to view them in static pages. I loathe infinite scrolling with the fire of a thousand suns. I want to reach the bottom, dagnabbit! Stop loading more stuff!!
