Ponderings (need feedback)
I have a few things on my mind, and I need some feedback on them:
Commission Stuff:
Im not opening yet, I need to finish what I have going.
Ive been thinking about prices. Im trying to stay fair, and so far I haven't received any complaints about charging too much. I've considered either adding the option or changing over to charging by the hour. I found a small timer (posted by Acidic ) that tracks how much time I spend in a program, and the timer is only going if Im interacting with the program in some way. If the mouse stops moving, or if I get distracted, the timer stops. So knowing that the time spent on a commission would be accurate, would you go for a by-the-hour commission? What is a fair rate?
Collaborations:
Yes or No? Not sure how it would work. And I have never done them before.
FAQ page:
I get asked a lot of questions, often very similar ones. Im thinking about writing a FAQ page, but I need a few more questions to make it a full FAQ.
I know Im going to include:
What program(s) do you use?
Do you role play?
Do you have Skype?
What other fetishes/kinks I can do?
Questions/limitations of Dravec and his 3 forms (by limitations, I mean what sort of art he can be depicted in, such as 'no adult stuff')
What sort of questions do you have? Or what sort of questions do you often see on a FAQ?
Other than that, Im still sort of 'out of it'. My week has continued its turbulent trend with plenty of ups and downs throughout these last couple days. The fire at the business has not ruined us thankfully. In fact my dad is oddly calm about the whole situation. I cant say the same for my uncle, who is still angry and frustrated at everyone for no reason. But so far my family isn't falling apart. Still, Ive been having good days and bad days, and I think my brain is simply confused over whether it should be happy or sad right now, thus Im getting thrown off.

Though I DO think the timer is a good tool to use in calculating how you gauge your pricing in the future. what you can do is continue quoting a set price for your work, and while you are working use that timer for your self. That way you can get an average time it takes you to do various kinds of commissions and with that information you can then come up with a dollar amount per hour you want and adjust your pricing structure that way. Example - if you find that it takes you 5 hours on average to do a certain kind of commission and you feel you should be earning $12,00 per hour then you would set a flat fee of $60.00 for that kind of commission. :)
My original idea was to do something like
I would not just go off and spend hours and hours on a project and make the commissioner pay for it. That would be unfair. And I have been wrong before on how long it would take me to make something, so I would not charge by the hour on big, major projects. I may charge by the hour or half hour on rendering an animation, since those take so long. But I would not have someone pick a detailed commission and then charge by the hour.
