Maybe it's just me...

You can lead a horse to water, but can't make it drink, so the saying goes.
One can hope for people to change for the better. Seeing them repeat the same mistakes over and over again (after you've been asked for advice to fix the problem), makes you question if they want to truly change and improve their lives in the first place.
I don't see how it's acceptable to address your commissioning audience and give them excuses as to why you can't finish their work. Then, turn around posting your own personal fun-time pieces without expecting someone to get upset. Finally, to tell the audience that you will now only take money up front for commissions, when you have a terrible history of not finishing work or forgetting commissions all together, is absolutely ludicrous.
If you want to make art your only income, act like a professional and take your work AND customers seriously. This is your job and your responsibility so letting valiant white-knights step in to "speak on your behalf" makes YOU come across as immature, dodgy, and irresponsible to any potential clients.
Since speaking your mind openly leads to uninformed fools coming out of the woodwork to make invalid assumptions, let me give a blunt summary of this journal:
I hate the fact that some people get judged for being real, while the rest are getting loved for being fake. Also, more importantly, stop making stupid people famous.

FA+

Also I have seen a lot of people that are very popular half-ass commissions, but go all-out on personal work. This seems particularly true in the world of 3D. Makes me wonder what I'm doing wrong. :c
But yeah, people have to WANT to change in order to do so. And as long as there are people throwing money at them and giving them attention, change will most like not occur. It is sad, but from I've seen, there are so many people that are quite the opposite; you just have to find them. ^^
lack of organizational skills, skills in money management, and lacking simple people skills will only make matters worse.
A God forbid someone even remotely draws something similar in style, the fangs and talons spring out full force. But wait, there's more, for if you wait a few hours a massive back pedal will show its ugly head utterly destroying once again and credibility this artist thinks they have.
This goes far deeper than you can lead a horse to water.
