6k Watches AHHH!! also... Patreon?
10 years ago
YAY I have been waiting for this milestone for so long.
I really can't thank you guys enough for showing interest in my work. Whether you commission, comment, fav or even just follow and quietly lurk, I sincerely appreciate it.
As most of you know after some annoying circumstances/confusion I was out of a job and left with really no other option than to do art full time, and now I really believe that was a blessing in disguise. I feel as though I've really hit my stride and I'm producing more art than ever and I'm really enjoying it too. I'm happy to announce that I'm capable of making a living at my current rate that will allow me to save up to move out in the next couple months thanks to the support of all you wonderful people.
That being said, with all the time I've been pouring into commissions (not that I'm complaining!!) I haven't really had the energy/time to focus on improvement. I've been seriously looking into Patreon (after
thebravelittle's preaching) as a means of balancing improvement and personal work as well as commission-work.
I have a couple tier options in mind including discounted commission raffles as well as a tier specifically for practicing artists with whom I'll kind of 'mentor' with my existing/future knowledge and techniques and offer critique/red-lines to. It would be through Skype in like a small group of 10ish people (assuming anyone's interested) for like $15 bucks a month... What do you guys think of that? Too expensive or just right, orr?
If I became successful enough with Patreon I'd also love to spend some time developing characters and fleshing out a plot for a sci-fi/fantasy comic I have in mind. ;w;
Anyway let me know your thoughts!! Also a big THANK YOU to all you lovely people!

Example: I can pledge a tier, get the unlocks for that tier, then pull my pledge so i don't get charged, but i keep access to everything and you dont get a dime :/
Patreon seems like a fantastic idea but that REALLY worries me ya know?
Grats on the 6k btw ^0^
And the mentoring thing... man, I am most interested! :)
As for the sci-fi thing you want to work on... I would love to help ^^
Congrats on the 6k! You absolutely deserve each and every one of those watches.
On the other hand if you use Patreon for essentially selling services, then you either deal with 'cheaters' again, or force your patrons to wait until the end of the month when they're actually billed, and then patreon takes a big cut on top of that. You're much better off selling that kind of stuff directly.
Good luck!
I'd support you Kaity! \(ouo )/ You have my regular friendly support too. Double support! ᕦ(òuóˇ)ᕤ
I'd love tutoring and learning opportunities! Red lining a piece would also handy - like teacher critiques! And maybe not too much of a workload on your end either. ( And your comic sounds interesting too!)
