What does everyone prefer when it comes to making purchases?
A set price, first come first serve.
A set price, raffle option so it's not first come first serve.
An auction without an AB so if you're sleeping/at work/distracted, you don't miss out on getting something you woulda wanted.
An auction without an AB with tiers (IE: X price gets you Y addition, X price gets you Y and Z addition, and so forth).
An auction with an AB.
Or some other option I forgot? Wanted to do this on DeletetheStar's account cause she has more followers, and I'd get more opinions, but I think she'd nip me haha.

FA+

but some times you make make more with an action with AB (either with or without tiers)
so it all depends on you. Test different options and see what works better!
On one hand, I really want X thing, on the other hand, I really want to save money. So I so feel this philosophy.
Of course if I absolutely adore it, I'm willing to just buy it first come first serve.
I actually really hate the raffle way. I mean yeah it's a lot more fair to other people, but it's always super disappointing to the people who don't win. It also pushes a lot of people away from trying to win it if there are too many participants.
Raffles always bugged me too, personally not all for it... but I can understand the usefulness of it. I haven't seen many hisses at it though because it's just a recent option I've seen cropping up here and there so I was like hm, what's everyone elses opinion on that one?
That said, I think auctions can be really helpful in gauging an item's demand in that every so often putting a couple things up to see what the general feel is. Especially if the item is unique in some way. In some cases I figure setting a very high AB is nicer than the limitless ones if only because there is always that undercurrent of "well if you really want it, there is an optiooooon" XD
Just lays there on the keyboard, tears everywhere
Simple dog noises.
Honestly my only real warghle with auctions is when there is no snipe guard. Only because I like to have that moment to go "ok. Its been bid past but I can just let it go.." versus the flailing due to getting sniped at the very last minute and not having any real chance. I think its just a mental quirk for me in that if I'm gonna lose, I like to lose because I let it go rather than I got tripped up at the last second. I blame my old ebay days, it caused me to get super antsy about auctions.
A commission artists price is set by making a living wage with their art, how much time they put into each piece and refining the time it takes to do a set-quality picture, then filling as many slots as they can.
A supplementary artist would have better luck creating slots for [wing-it] style commissions, YCH auctions, adoptables, or limited slots getting the most they can out of commissions that they are sure they will have time to complete without interfering with their primary jobs.
I feel like regular first-come-first-serve commissions are the best are a consumer, but not every artist can keep with that schedule.
