Fire damage control #1

Continuing from the previous journal...
So today the estate agency, in a pleasing display of celerity, found us a new apartment to live in. It's not too far away from here so my roommates will still be in walking distance from the university. Funnily enough, many buildings here were built at the same moment following the same blueprint, so the new apartment is almost the same as the old one, minus the soot. It's also been redecorated recently, so all in all, we're getting into a better place than we had for the exact same price. Paperwork is being made, if everything goes okay we should be able to sign the new leases tomorrow or Friday.
The insurance's expert (or to be more accurate, the insuranceS' expert) came to check the damage and make calls to get this shit repaired/cleaned up. I should be called later today or tomorrow by the disaster cleaning company so we can schedule the unsooting of our stuff. Once it's done I'll know whether or not my Cintiq still works - if it doesn't, it should be considered lost goods and I should receive compensation from the insurance. The cleaning company fees will of course be entirely covered by the insurance. The sanding of the ceilings and walls should be made by another company and they'll treat directly with my landlord - not that I'll care at that point since I'll be out.
There will probably still be some moving costs that won't be covered by the insurance (since we're not being relocated temporarily), but big whoop. That's a price I'm willing to pay to get out of this chimney- I mean, apartment >>
So yeah, I guess there's a silver lining to this whole debacle. Hopefully by next week it will be over and we can leave the whole mess to the insurance companies to have fun with.

Wow, I wasn't aware there was a fire. But I'm glad you're okay and that the insurance is actually dealing with it like they're supposed to!
