Toejam and Earl: Back in the Groove Kickstarter
11 years ago
General
So get this, the creators of the Toejam & Earl series (Which is NOT SEGA, despite popular opinion) have launched a kickstarter to make a new game in the series based heavily on the original game; featuring funky music, hand-drawn art for sprites, funky music, new online 4 player co-op mode, funky music, new playable characters & a bunch of other cool features, and most importantly of all; funky music!
...Seriously this is some seriously awesome shit. Check out this animated trailer
Neat, huh? And the Kickstarter page has the full version of the song there to listen to as well; with a live-action music video coming soon to accompany it!
Though I grew up a Nintendo fan, I always looked forward to playing the original Toejam & Earl with my friends on their Genesis along with Sonic & Vectorman (another series that SERIOUSLY needs to come back IMHO). Hearing this news not only gets me giddy, but also gives me hope that more franchises like this will eventually be brought back in a similar light!
As of my typing this journal up, the game has recieved almost $52,000 of the pleged $400,000 dollar goal for funding. The incentives are pretty awesome & some of the higher backer tiers will net you some serious swag. Sadly, I cannot pledge any money to the game because money is a scarce commodity in my household right now, but at the very least I can inform all of you out there who are interested in the project to donate if possible!
Let's not let yet another beloved classic IP fall to the same level of obscurity as many others before it! Click here to head to the Kickstarter page and show your support!
