I just heard the news about Leonard Nemoy.

While I was never a Trekkie, I am a gi-mungous sci-fi geek and I always had a high amount of respect for him since I consider him to be one of the pioneers of science fiction.

RIP Mr. Spock.

He has really had a huge impact on the sci-fi genre of books and movies. I don't know anyone who doesn't give him some credit for shaping the whole genre.
