For colors, type [color=purple ]Your text here[/color] only with no space after the word purple.
For center do [center ] Your text here[/center] with no space after "center".
If you want a color other than default red/blue/purple/etc. replace the color name with the code you can find here http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_colorpicker.asp .

I believe these commands nest, meaning you can do color, then center, type your text, then close center, then close color. Remember, last in, first out.
