I bought my 3d-printer over a year ago.
While learning to use it I read and watched all the tutorials that I could find. Some things were not really obvious - like how the quality of the filament affects the print (there are many types of PLA).
During the last year I tried different filaments (PLA, flexible PLA, ABS, Nylon, Bendlay, ...) and printed several hundred models.
Most of the problems that I encountered were caused by crappy filament. I'm really happy with the quality of the printer.
I had planned to talk about my experiences in this video, but my microphone did not cooperate - that's why I had to insert the text in the video.
Some of my 3d-models are on Thingiverse:

More examples of my 3d-prints are linked in my Livejournal: http://tioh.livejournal.com/tag/3d-print

I'm probably going to have to use a makerbot soon for a design project, so I'll try to keep in mind the things you mentioned in the video. Thanks for taking the time to make it.

OP
I have not done much printer maintenance - except for unjamming filament in the extruder and leveling the print-bed. I have heard from others that they have to constantly repair something.
