PS3 plays blu ray,.. Thats what we use for our theater projector now at any rate.

Wait nevermind. I now see there was a BBC series called Blue Planet. Supposedly better than the IMAX movie of the same name. HMMMM.

Long story short.. I found no evidence they are releasing it in Blu-Ray. Sad. That might change so who knows.

Baraka looks like an interesting film... I'll have to see it at some point. Of the films you mentioned, I've got The Fifth Element in Superbit DVD, better video quality than an average DVD, no extras on the disc, it's all taken up by movie. :o) In the opposite direction tech-wise, I was watching the original M.A.S.H. movie on my RCA CED videodisc player (not a laserdisk player, but I've gone one of those too) last night, and discovered that my player has just developed a problem that it won't play past 46 minutes on each side... erf, I'll have to open it and see what's going on.

I thought about buying the Superbit version but I might as well just wait till I get the Blu-Ray version. :P

CED...video on vinyl. I have an RCA CED player around here somewhere along with 30 or so discs. So few people have any idea what those are. Such delicate machines. I wonder if mine still works.

Baraka on Blu-Ray?! *swoon* What an amazing visual and audio experience and that was just on regular ol' DVD. Its certainly inspiring. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

My friend has it. I've yet to see it in all it's UBER transferred glory! Supposedly it was some extra special method of xfer over to Blu-Ray so it should be even more stunning. If that is possible. If it is my head may explode while watching it or I just may fall into the TV all Tron-style. XD

I plan on getting Baraka on Blu-ray and having a viewing with friends. They must have their minds blown. And then I shall probably watch it by myself while enjoying a good cigar, chamomile tea and sitting so close to the TV that Baraka is all that exists in my world.

Baraka was the first DVD I bought online. It arrived and I was busy till around midnight. At 2am I relaxed a bit and thought "Oh I should check this movie out" It was a blind purchase after all. I lived in the middle of nowhere at the time so nothing but woods surrounded the house. It was a full moon and I turned off all the lights in the house and just let myself be immersed in the movie. Needless to say I was blown away. I don't think I've ever given another movie that much attention before. It was worth it!
