Get your galoshes ready- ANE 2015
I figure I should probably announce a proper flood warning, since I've finally gotten most of my photos from Anthro New England all ready to go. (I took an absurd amount of pictures during the con, although I so wish I had a faster lens, because far too many of them ended up past the point of usable blur. T-T)
That being said, I will be posting everything that I think isn't *entirely* useless because I think all of those lovely suiters deserve every picture they get taken of them. Suiting takes some serious stamina!
I'll initially post all of them in the main gallery, but after a week or so all but the best photos will be moved over to scraps land, since I'd like to keep my gallery more about the arts. Although, perhaps if cons become a frequent adventure of mine then I'll create a separate account just for my photography. Hmm, I wonder what my photographer 'sona should be... Something with really big eyes, maybe something steam-punk or mech.. hmmm...
Anyway, I digress.
ANE was absolutely freakin' amazing!!
I went with my close friends
ironchef and
oceanicorcanda and was quite frankly a massive bundle of nerves leading up to the con. "What if no one talks to me? What if I get overwhelmed by the crowds? What if furs get weirded out by me being such a gung-ho newbie? What if, What if, What if?!"
My fears were absurdly misplaced. Furries are the best group I have ever had the pleasure to spend time with. Within minutes of arriving at the con I became fast friends with a couple furs over a game of Gloom and after successfully killing off
Prance 's family our group grew. So we moved on to a rousing game of Betrayal at House on the Hill Goodness to fuzz this was such an entertaining game. So many shenanigans were had.
After that was a dinner out in Braintree with the new fuzz-posse to meet a couple local furs who weren't able to make it to the con. After dinner I was too wound up to want to go to bed so I wandered down to the remaining wisps of the dance and started painting. Yeah, weird past-time I realize, but I love painting out where I can talk to people. And I met a very cool blue dragon who works in theater in RL. I think I snapped a blurr-ific phone photo of the painting before parting ways... I should really check on that...
Saturday, started with a nice long swim in the hotel pool with a rooftop view (amazing). And I actually made it to my first and only panel- which was furry writing 101 where I got a lot of great info on the furry writer's guild and some good tips on improving my work. After that I spent a ton of time either sketching or running around like a crazy roxxit with my camera. Nexus even let me help take some photos of the parade set-up, which was totally awesome! ^.^
After the manic photography occurred I even managed to catch a game of "Werewolves". Which if you have not played, it's kind of like mafia, but better. The dance competition was fantastic! I snagged a seat right up front so I got a great view of the action. The evening transitioned to food at the (mildly overpriced) hotel bar before the dancing began. And oh goodness, this is where I took a turn for the worst. Please note my signature form of dancing is somewhere between interpretative dance and waving my limbs about like an octopus. I now can confidently say it is a terrible form of dancing because I dislocated my knee in the process. oops. That little slip of the ligaments still has me down for the count. Some drama occurred between one of my fuzz-friends and a non-conventioneer in the hotel after I retreated to ice-pack land, but it was worked out pretty quickly by ANE staff. So mad props to the staff of this con!!
Sunday I took really easy, since my knee felt like it could pop right back out at any moment... But I do want to say thank you to
prance for being extra awesome and getting me some breakfast and ibuprofen. *hugs!* And a big thank you to everyfur who helped me get around on Sunday. Even though I was chair-bound of the day I still had an amazing time. Starting with art-time with
The_rabbits_soul, and then I planned out some ref sheets with
imnotwithreal and
skullkid214. The day ended far too soon with many hugs and fond farewells.
I cannot wait for my next chance to go to another fur con, although in the mean-time I have some really cool new friends to keep me sane.

I'm Glad you had so much fun, you were by far one of the sweetest people I've met and I don't think anyone would not want to talk to you. Your art is so amazing and im honored to have been able to sit down and draw with you and ill do it again on any day. Your dance moves were great and I still love the skirt you wore. Someday if we meet again we should go dancing and maybe not dislocate a knee... >,< Just teasing. Thank you for making this con great and I hope we meet again soon.

You're wonderful! And I'm glad I could bring a little joy to your visit. ^.^ you certainly brought a bunch to mine. I'm very much looking forward to the next time we get to hang out and art out together. Next time though, I'm wearin' my peg leg to our dance. Can't lose the knee if you don't have it. And then it'll be on like donkey kong!
