background tips?

i'm determined to get better at backgrounds
i like doing them but i get frustrated with how they turn out and i end up never doing them again for awhile lmAO
so does anyone have any tips they could give me?
it can be for buildings or roads or just grass and such, anything and everything is good and appreciated !

the background that you doodled seems to have a solid concepts but I would try and go into a little more detail. as we all know the monsters lie in the details....0N0
