The following content may or may not contain floof, you have been warned! I learned today that my favorite author, Terry Pratchett, passed away on the 12th of March.
This saddens me greatly as his work has filled my life with more laughs than any other author out there.
I just recently, last week, bought his second to last release "Raising Steam". Reading this book will now have a greater meaning to me than it previously had.
His last book was finished last summer but is scheduled to be released posthumously in 2015.
Pratchett had been suffering from a form of Alzheimer's since 2009 but still managed to keep writing up to his death. He ended up unable to type on a keyboard but continued by dictating to his computer (iirc).
He's one of the most successful British authors, knighted for his service to literature, the only one close would be JK Rowling.
Rest In Peace Sir Terry Pratchett, you crazy, hilarious, amazing person, I hope you had a long and witty conversation with Death when he came to pick you up. Farewell Samuel Vimes, Carrot Ironfounderson, Lord Havelock Vetenari, Moist von Lipwig, Rincewind, Mustrum Ridcully and the Librarian and all the other amazing characters created by this man, I will miss reading about the new adventures you'll no doubt have.
And to all of you, if you like fantasy and satire, and haven't yet read any of Pratchett's books, go pick up any book from his Discworld series and give it a chance, it might be the best choice you've made :3
