Commissions Opening Soon! Thoughts? Opinions? Please! :)
Hey guys!
So I'll be ready to open commissions again soon! :D But before I did, I wanted to post a journal appealing to all my watchers and commissioners to ask for ya'll's input, opinion, and ideas regarding how I open commissions.
The last time I opened them, the few slots I offered went very quickly, so quickly that I ended up extending my five slots into seven to accommodate for those who just barely missed claiming a slot, by minutes. On top of that, I had at least six more people note me later that day about how they had missed the journal and I was closed by the time they were even able to access FA.
Now, don't get me wrong- I was absolutely floored and very humbled by how quickly my slots went, how many people wanted to commission me and how well they've gone so far. I can't thank you guys enough for that kind of support. But it does leave a small problem- namely, those who want to commission me but aren't able to claim a slot in time before the 5 or so slots I open fill up.
Which brings us to this- what do you guys feel is the most fair and optimal way to open commissions? Do I announce a set time- i.e. "I will be opening for commissions at 5:00PM CST on Monday the 9th!" so people can be 'fairly' prepared? Or is it better to open them unannounced so everyone has an 'equal' shot? Fair and equal right now don't exactly line up, and I want to try and be as close to both as possible...
I think I can go back to ten slots next time- five regular, and five 'backup' that won't get started until the first five are finished or near finishing- while I did like having a smaller work load this time around, again I feel like adding just three more slots than what I did last time is still doable, and I can still get commissions done within the 2-week time frame I allow myself to have.
But still, I want to know YOUR opinion, YOUR thoughts on this! I never want to claim to know everything (or even anything!) about how most people work on FA, yet at the same time I do understand people have lives outside of this website and not everyone has schedules that line up with being able to do things like catch someone who's open for commissions before they close up. (Trust me, I totally feel ya'll here- there's this one artist I've been trying to commission for almost a year, but I ALWAYS miss their journal openings...)
Thanks so much, guys! I only have a few more pieces I have left to do, so like I said, commissions should be opening soon! Fingers crossed by the end of the week! I would LOVE to hear any and all of your comments, and I promise I really do appreciate each and every single watch, favorite, comment, and even the views! You guys are helping me, step by step, to build myself up to an even better artist every day. <3
Ya'll are awesome!

Or you could do it the other way around so everyone who missed the first-come-first-served journal would still have a fair chance at being chosen. Either way that seems like it would be a nice balance of everyone being considered *and* you get the added perk of being able to choose which projects sound most interesting to you. :)
2. you can mix and match.
3 at a random time, first come first served.
3 at a scheduled time, first come first served.
3 that you hand pick as the exact things you are most excited to work on.
1 auction that closes after a few days to see what people are willing to pay for your art :p
That sounds like a good idea! :3 I'll definitely want to implement the prospect of of divide and choose when I open commissions again... Try and make it equally fair in all aspects. :3 I really want to make sure that those who want a commission can still get one! And auctions are definitely something I need to bring back, they're always very fun...! ^^
Thanks again, dear! <3 Your support means a ton to me~
1). Use fixed pricing, have people describe what they want done, and pick the ones you really want to do, or
2). Open it up for bidding.
