Hello FA users,
It's been almost 2 years since my lovely dilute tortoishell cat Smokey passed away in August 2013. I haven't ever really written or told many people about her. So, in her memory and because she was the animal i grew up with, here I go. I will try keep it light.

Smokey was born August 1996 and became a part of my life shortly after, on my 7th birthday. Which is pretty much almost as far back as my memories go. She was brought into the family as a young kitten just 8 weeks old.
Smokey was the closest living thing i think i've ever shared my life with. She used to follow me to school, she ate with me, she even barged into my shower room demanding attention, while i was in the shower. She was a truely wonderful animal, in every way gentle and loyal. Her favourite place was at the foot of my bed, sat on my feet while i slept. She would often come to her name, and was very social, joining the family for evening TV in front of the fire.
Smokey lived a good life of 17 years, and she was very very loved by all who got to meet her. Unfortunately, cat's have shorter lifespans than us, and although she did pass away, she did very well for her breed. I'm very proud to have known her and called her not my pet, but my soulmate.
I miss her every day. She now lies bured at the foot of the garden, forever now a part of the house she so long belonged in. She was a moderate cat, never really excited, but always content. I hope she is still her usual lazy silly self, wherever she has gone to now in spirit. I hope to join her again someday in that place.
May she forever be immortalised in this profile on FA, I hope you all can experience the joy of being so close to an animal, as I was to her. Because in true furry fashion, I believe a person who befriends an animal, stands taller for it.
In loving memory of that little feline furball. RIP. xxx
If anyone else has similar memories of animals they loved, feel free to talk about them.
I would now like to quote the recently deceased Leonard Nimoy, as his last quote in life, i think is the finest saying ever spoken:
"Life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory."
