I don't mind other's characters on stuff, would still buy it if I find the design appealing

For me the most important aspect is good design. But that's personal preference. I decorate with/wear things that strike a chord with my personal taste and feel like they'll stand the test of time well more than just "I like X thing from Y fandom so I'll buy it." I think that's going to vary from person to person as to how much weight they give which.

I personally prefer generic characters in merch. I feel a bit silly having keychains or something of people's OCs.

I don't mind buying merch of other peoples characters, but i would feel a lot better about buy it if the character wasnt something super unique

you know? that way it doesnt feel so much like im carrying around some super special character.

it would also be a lot better imo if you could stick to selling stuff of a single character, or maybe no more than three so that when people look at this little keychain they can say "oh! i know that character, its ____ mascot!" or something
kind of like, use a character to go with your name rather than using 20 different characters.

That definitely makes a lot of sense! Simpler/more iconic characters are definitely more relatable and generally have more "character" than something generic?

YEAH I agree with that too. I tend to be really indecisive with my characters so my image becomes kind of muddy. Definitely something I need to work on.
