What can I do to make commissioning me easier?
First off, THANK YOU! Thank you so much for the kindness, that has made it possible that I was able to replace my broken tablet so quickly! I will be picking up my new one tomorrow!
And thank you all so much for your feedback on commissions and tablets.
I truly appreciate the wonderful people I have met on this site.
<3 To all my watchers, Thank you!
Second, I am hoping I could maybe pick peoples brains for a bit. How can I make the process of commissioning me easier? I'm wondering if my way of selling things is confusing.
Would it be easier if I made a google form?
Or am I too complicated already? Maybe I need to simplify things.
I feel like I really struggle through the whole process of getting myself set up with sending out all the emails, invoices, follow ups, and records just to get to the point where I've got all my ducks in a row and am ready to start the image.
So when I have to set up the details for a large group of images, I usually have to set aside a whole day for it. I might actually dread it! I just have a hard time when I have a full inbox, so I guess I'm in the "there's got to be a better way! " stage!
So what can I do to make it easier for you? :D

Haha you are right! People really don't bring up how much time goes into emailing, or researching before even starting a picture. I'm great about keeping all the information organized and getting it all scheduled, I just am so slow at writing emails. Even quick responses seem to take me 30 minutes or so.
It's fairly easy on our end. If it's hard for you to keep track, here's what I'd do to make it easy:
Set up a little priority list for yourself and add the details for each commission to the list. (Always create a new list with each round of commissions, keeping them dated)
Make sure price lists, examples and all the info for each commission round is spelled out so people who speak other languages find it easy too
Each time you have a journal regarding your commissions, or an advert image, edit in the list (even if commissioners are listed as anon) with a status of payment pending, paid, drawing, complete etc
The brief is simple enough. As long as you get the information you need it doesn't need to be too extensive. And with invoice forms, if you set yourself a format that's quick and easy to fill out you can just key in the details and shoot it off
Just the easiest way to keep records for yourself and keep us updated. (well it works for me anyway) :P
Hope this helps!
You brought up something that I didn't think about though! I don't think my adverts are easy to understand for someone who speaks another language. Thank you for that! I am definitely going to change how I write up some things with that in mind.
This definitely helped! Thank you!
- Fill in your commission info if you get the time
- If you have the time to make a form, I'm sure people would enjoy the professional feel it gives to fill it in for a commission.
- I see you keep a to-do list, some artists use Trello for it. Can't say I've used it myself!
- In the non-literal sense try to make a nice ''funnel'' format with your forms/routine that ultimately leads to you being happier with the outcome too, by trying to lure out information you often feel is lacking alongside any usual formalities. That's how you can use forms to make working on commissions more relaxing for you as well!
That's all I could think up, ultimately people that want to commission you will surely find a way to do so however. So don't go bending backwards to conform to everyones wishes x3.
