I agree. That is usually what happens to websites when theyu are taken over by greedy, corrupt corporations & companies. I do suspect however we will begin to see more ads & Spam, (like what happened to Youtube after the Google takeover) and even a Pay-membership here is even a possibility.

I agree. This fandom has always had a "Do It Yourself" independent attitude and this the first time I've seen a company that isn't run by furries get really involved in it. I'm just hoping that IMVU has a better understanding of the furry fandom than Google would.

Even though our fandom is growing quickly every year, we are still a close knit and better networked fandom than other fandoms are.

If word got around that they banned or screwed over popular artists, started forcing users to pay to post or see adult artwork, or started using furries art for advertising or merchandise without asking the artists first, or radically change FA without warning anyone, it would be an instant "abandon ship!". At least we have Weasyl if that happens, I just hope their servers are ready for a mass exodus. :)

Migrating my most valuable content from the site over the next few days. Keeping this account semi-active. Still posting until the site itself becomes a security hazard or too frustrating to deal with.

Wait and see. Maybe IMVU is seeing something that works better than their old overly commercial approach. Someplace in the middle is likely.

I'm also of the wait-and-see persuasion. I'd never heard of IMVU and just had a look, definitely not my kind of thing, but then a lot of smaller companies, websites, or what have you, are owned by larger and/or horrible corporations and you'd never know it. Not saying I approve in general of that concept, but it _can_ work transparently.

I did start a weasyl just in case, and out of curiosity, and because some people I was following here have abandoned FA. AND I just now realized as I typed "Weasyl" that it's not "Weasly" as it been re-spelled in my brain all this time :)

I'm transferring my gallery.to inkbunny. Basically for a backup. Its about half done now.

I used IMVU briefly, years ago. They're a decent company to their customer base, from what I recall, and very up-front about their policies. If they say they're not changing the policies here on FA, odds are they mean it.

As far as for I, if FA goes to shit, I got no where to go. I might make a Weasyl just in case.

But I don't think IMVU will screw us over because majority of their members are indeed furries, so whether or not it dictates their involvement with FA, is beyond our guess.

Just hope for the best... My advise.

I just hope FA doesn't get rammed into the ground, like how Google rammed Youtube into the ground. (Aka: by putting ads and overall, just messing Youtube up.) just my opinion there. And I'm also staying, I can't just leave and assume it'll be terrible, cause who knows! Maybe this new management thing will be good. ^_^

I have it for a while now and have been cross posting for about a year. I am seeing what is being said officially by Fender, and IMVU, then I am reading stuff like IMVU's TOS on there web site and googling IMVU and seeing the complaints and issues some of there users are having. BTW depending on you read the TOS, IMVU can use whatever you post any way they want, and if they screw up, mess up your computer with spy ware or like Sony did a root kit or other software , heck there is even health warning in the TOS, you cant sue them for relief even if IMVU knows its there. Also being on the internet for a L O N G time and seeing websites just dieing because of new owners taking over and changing things, anyone remember My Space? or totally mess screw up the site like You Tube so I have experienced this before. It has never gone well. New corporate owners don't understand the user base, see $$$ and implement changes placing pop up , pop under, ads video ads, and putting up a pay wall and the site die. I do not have a real good feeling on this sale to IMVU I am not leaving FA yet but I will be mirroring the rest of the pics here over to Weasyl. As I said in other posts I am not Jumping Ship yet, but I have lowered the life boat to the main deck and have my life vest in my hands :)

I'm not too worried. You do not purchase a website with as much traffic as FA, with the intent of destroying it.

We will see improvements in functionality, though yes, we can expect there to be some manner of changes to make it profitable for IMVU. Possibly having some features for subscribers only, such as what DeviantArt does. Most likely more ads, though seriously, how many people have stopped buying video games, because of all the in-game ads you're inundated with?

If new features are added and they actually fulfill all the wishes people have had over the years, it will be worth putting up with some more ads.

I do not think there intent will be to destroy FA. I think it would be to profit from it. and its the trying to profit from it that will destroy the site
