Two birthdays... and a new comic?

Hello everyone.
Well, March 21st has swung by again, slapping a post-it sticker on my forehead saying "35" as it passed. I don't have any complaints though. It's been a relaxing day, despite the cold and wet weather, with a very nice Chinese buffet dinner with relatives which left us all feeling wonderfully stuffed.
And while we're on the subject of birthdays, while it's not the exact date it's still the right month, Here there be Dragons celebrates it's 6th year running. Good grief, has it been that long? I remember sitting down in the steaming engine room of a train ferry scribbling together the bare-bones script in what feels like an age ago. It's been a hilarious ride so far. And we've still got a long way to go.
And I really must take a moment to thank all the wonderful fans who have contributed and donated to the comic over the years. You've help this comic come out at a regular pace (and even faster sometimes) when troubles in real life have prevented me from doing so.
Truly, thank you.
Keeping the topic on comics, I thought I'd share a little secret with you. I have a 2nd comic in the works. It's not HtbD-related, but rather completely stand-alone. It's not finished yet, but at least halfway there. You can see some preliminary sketches in the Scraps gallery.
Thing is, I'm not quite sure what to do with it now. I aim to finish it and I will release it to the public (probably here or on one of my other galleries out there on the web), completely free of charge.
Maybe it's the success of the Patreon talking, but I was kind of thinking of setting up some way for the (eventual and possible) fans of the comic to throw a buck or two in the tin if they liked the comic and felt like it. Problem is, one of the two characters in it is from a cartoon show, meaning it's copyrighted to someone other than me. That sounds like I could potentially get into legal trouble for making a profit, however meager, from somebody else's intellectual property. That's something I definitely would like to avoid.
I suppose I could change a few of her features, but it's so far along that it would just be window dressing at this point, and her race, which is probably also copyrighted, would still be the same. What to do, what to do?
Of course, I don't need to make a profit from it. Hell, I made it for fun out of spare cash. Well, commissioned a very nice artist to illustrate it for me I mean.
Yes, it's the same as HtbD in that it contains humor, sex, and really is way too long for what is considered a "standard" porn comic, if indeed there is such a thing.
Any input on this? I'm all ears.
P.S. I know there hasn't been any new HtbD pages yet. I'm waiting on Karno to get enough free time to make them, but right now the ball is in his court. As soon as they're done they'll be up, but no sooner than that I'm afraid.

...I'm not sure there IS a way to ask for donations on a copyrighted character... well, it depends on which character, and who owns it. Japanese Doujonshi have a long tradition of being sold using copyrighted characters - it';s essentially fanfic, manga-style. So if it's a Japanese IP, you might be able to do it.
If, however, it's say, something owned by the mouse, don't even think about it.
...I suppose you could (perhaps) set up a drop for "donations to support commissioned art projects", without specifying which projects.
Hope you had a good one.
