It's one then when a site like this is run by a bunch of guys you hardly know with a bunch of donations from people you hardly know and its another when now its a company or corp you don't know at all. Deals like this are not made for no reason or to serve no purpose and just let this site be. There is a plan and there is a change coming be it visible or not. There are too many conversations under the table and behind closed doors - I'm naturally a wary creature so you can bet I'm apprehensive.
Sadly if the site is trashed, we'll still lose contact with people, and the loss of content will be enormous. A lot of people aren't active anymore or just don't have the time to find and reupload ~2,000 pieces from the last decade.
Artwork theft can happen anytime on the internet and generally isn't the end of the world. If someone wants to look like a prat by stealing stuff that obviously isn't theirs then I couldn't care less. Yes knock-offs can look bad but hopefully most viewers worth thinking about will have the good sense to see what's happening. I like to think that if any serious money was made from it, (as if) I'd be able to do something about it legally regardless of who runs the site. I guess we just have to keep watching the ToS in case something awful is slipped through legally.
I say what I say because on a much smaller scale, I am having to deal with some unwanted consequences of running furry events in my own town (collectively I call all the local drama 'lessons learned' or 'premeditated stupidity' depending on what aspects I'm referring to). Speaking of these things, I'm STILL dealing with crap from the event I had in February and just want to focus on the one in April without tip-toeing around carefully (and ineffectively) getting information out to those who need it.
