IMVU

*Commissions are now offered through journals! Keep a lookout for them!*
|| Trello| TOS |Business HRS/Schedule || So, a friend told me about this: http://www.imvu.com/shop/product.ph.....ts_id=23527785
Now, first off, I know it's my character, but it's commissioned art I PAID FOR from
.
I want to let you guys know, I don't condone to this crap. I have already let the artist know about this and am waiting for a response. I'm really not happy about this whatsoever and don't want to seem butthurt about it either. I do know however, the artist is extremely not ok with her stuff being taken without permission and being used for other things other than myself. I don't have an IMVU account and don't ever plan on getting one, but if any of you are so kind to please help me out if you find anymore of my characters or my art to PLEASE report it to me.
IMVU buying out FA was I think one of those worst moves FA could've made, but I seriously cannot leave this place. I can't AFFORD to leave this place. My fanbase is all here, my commissioners are here, this is my home. I would move over to better websites but I simply can't guarantee my fanbase will follow. There's way too much on the line for me to just up and leave this place. So as much as I'm extremely upset about this IMVU crap, I can't and won't go anywhere.
At this point, if any of you are so kind to help me keep my stuff off IMVU I would seriously appreciate it. Report everything you see (in a nice manner please) and please help keep everything for me only on FA or other sites I post on.
I hereby state right now:
I Michaela Mesias, under the username of Rukamae on FA, Weasyl, Inkbunny, and SoFurry, hereby declare for all my artwork, commissioned artwork from other artists, and my personal characters of Era, Click, Fear, and Hakku, and any other characters in the future I own to NOT be used on any other sites for monetary gain, or are copied/edited/referenced in any way WITHOUT my expressed written permission!

I do not condone what they did...
In fact, go DMCA it and have it forcibly removed!
But this has happened for a long time now...
Art theft has been happening on IMVU, SL, FA, DA, e621, etc... EVERYWHERE before this whole thing.
All of them and so on are covered with stolen art.
Knowing the mentality of those who take such things, they found it on google and used it...
Not giving any thought that is may belong to someone...
To blame this merger/sale is ridiculous...
Blame the thieves, not the site they happened to use at the time.
I have yet to see any negative outcome from the whole imvu thing.
The only negative thing I've seen is people COMPLETELY overreacting.
The overracting solves nothing...
Just amplifies issues/problems
I have seen nothing but hate spews since this was announced.
At Neer (I do agree this whole thing was handled poorly)...
At furries of IMVU, calling them all non-furries, ridulous (as in clowns with horrible makeup and thinking they are furs), to thieves..
To the devs all being called thieves...
I am an IMVU user...
I am against theft.
against the copyrighted characters on there (such as MLP and pokemon furs).
Against art used without permission...
Etc...
I also dev.
I turn people away all the time when they come to me with refs/images from other sites and they cannot prove to me they are the owner of the character.
I can understand not being happy with the thing..
But this total flip out helps no one...
If I run into the people making them, I tell them they need to get permission from the artist/owner or take it down...
But IMVU isn't the only one doing this.
Almost every single site online has it...
Tumblr
Facebook
DA
FA
SL
IMVU
etc...
And I understand being upset at that blatent theft...
Not cool
(Once again file a DMCA providing endless evidence that it not their work and they have no right to repost it nor make commission from it, it will get it taken from the catalog and out of inventories of people who purchased it. In the ToS section on imvu's page at the bottom it tells you how to go about doing it.)
Either way, i hope things work out for your artist friend :)
And i hope a good solution will come from all this (not just to her, but to all the artists affected)
It still sucks it happens, but at least attention is being brought to it now.
It was just something I realised halfway through reading it. In the long run, art theft might go down because of all this attention. Or at least that's what we all can hope for.
