So, I woke up today thinking, "I've been very sick, still am with this stupid Ross River Fever. I know what will make me feel better. Do some drawing. I feel a little inspired." So I go and do some drawing and I'm very proud. I got some Fan Art done, a few anthro pokemon. Then a few hours ago I upload them and think, "oh man, they look so good. I can't wait to see what people think."

So I wait...

And wait...

And wait...

No comments. No favourites. Nothing. Some of the best stuff and no one even notices.

I don't know. Starting to feel like it's not worth picking up my pencil if no one gives a shit.

Also My movie quote thing is still going. Only had 3 people guess. So maybe its just that no one is watching. But I do have a lot of people on my watch list. Maybe just no one cares. Link to it here anyway, win a free sketch. That no one wants.

It is best to draw fir yourself my friend. it took me years to be noticed here and even still Some of my work goes unnoticed. Draw because you want to draw.

Oh I do. But, it always feels nice when you post your stuff and people are like, "Wow, thats really great." or "You're really improving" or "Thats really inspiring."

That is pretty much how this place makes me feels. :\ I've long since removed everything I have made, having only freebies and commissions others have made in my gallery/scraps.

It doesn't help that one commission I posted recently has received move favorites than everything I posted in several years combined...

Well, idk... It used to be better. I used to have it where I would post whatever and people would have it within the first 30 minutes of it being up. I think its changed since I got back.

I think I may have made them all a little too hard. for the competition.

PS You do amazing art and I think you should post your own stuff more.

Hmm. I wonder what changed exactly. :\ There always seems to be something happening here, so it's hard to tell anymore.

I think it's just me. Out of the movies people have already named, I've only seen one. x3 Though 13 sounds like a line from Wreck-It Ralph.

And it's not wreck it Ralph but It is a cartoon. I think its Disney. Not 100% sure. It sure looks like Disney though.

Validation is important. Your motivation should be your main motivation, yes, very much so but getting a response from someone sure goes a long way to help keep that motivation going. Its not egotistical, its part of the artistic process. I usually run stuff by my husband who is also an artist and he gives me feedback, so I'm lucky in that regard. Anything else should just be icing on the cake. However, I still get bummed and go through unproductive periods when I feel I'm not producing anything particularly satisfying to me. All you can really do is keep doing what you love, what makes you happy.

Anyhoo, maybe this tip regarding artwork submission may help: Try increasing the brightness/contrast of your sketches. You have nice pieces but you can't see them very well when in thumbnail form and unfortunately, people tend to be very visual creatures and also lazy, so you want your thumbnail to be as clear as possible to make people click on it. Once upon a time I wrote a tutorial on scanning penciled images and brighten them up in photoshop I can upload if you think you can use it.
