Dragon based movies.

Like many others, I' went to see the Eragon movie, and like those others, was a little let down. I was suprized at what they really did cut out and (god forbid) even changed completely. I'll have to give them some credit though, Saphira kicked ass, and Durza looked like he should have. All in all I give the movie a 5/10.
On the subject of books, I thought of some I'd love to see into movies:
-The Pit Dragon triligy-Jane Yolan: Great series by great author.
-The Dragonriders of Pern series-Anne McAffrey: One of my fav authors of all time
-Tooth and Claw-Jo Walton-99.9% dragons (we rule ^.=.^)
There are probably others but can't think of any, but hopfully word will get out and prodution will start. Meh, I wish.

1. Too many characters. When a book has a lot of characters, many of them get left out of the movie completely. And I mean, jeez... she even keeps a list of characters with descriptions in the back keep track.
2. Too many dragons. Many movies can't even protray ONE dragon right, so how would a whole flight of them work? Plus the firelizards. The movie would have so much CG that they'd probably make the whole thing CG and take out the realism (assuming that American film makers create it, and not Japanese).
3. Too complex a plot. All the stuff in her books are completely nessecary, which means when they cut things out or change them for time purposes, the plot is ruined.
4. They're books. Unless someone with lots of money makes the movie, they will probably be portrayed badly. The only good book-into-movies I've seen have been Narnia, LOTR, and Harry Potter, only because there was a LOT of money backing them.
A reason that they probably won't ever make a movie about it - Mrs. McCaffery is insanely jealous of her dragons. She or her managers or whoever have sent nasty cease and desist letters to artists who draw and post Pern-like dragons - nevermind that they aren't selling them. She would likely be so picky about things that she would have complete control of the movie - which they probably wouldn't like at her age - or they would buy it off of her for a ton of money.... and she would be furious about what they did to it.
So, no offense, I don't want to see the Dragonrider series ever made into movies - unless the director knows what they're doing, uses at least four hours for each book, and the dragons look and behave like they're supposed to.
Sorry, long rant. I'm just losing faith for those directors making books - specifically ones I've read - into movies.
