Glad that I'm not the only one having problems with Skype...not that I'm glad YOU'RE having problems! Just saying at least I know I'm not crazy. ^^;

Seriously, Microsoft needs to get their shit together. I just hope your issues sort themselves out soon.

Steam server connectivity is buggy at best, while I was shown the bug via screenshare, it seems that Skype cannot properly function while certain other programs are active, as it causes Skype to lock up and become unresponsive, or causes it to not register keystrokes, despite being the active window. Oddly enough, when he did go to type after switching from the game to Skype, it registered the first 15-20 characters typed, but then immediately stopped registering them, ruling out it being a transitional bug.
It's unfortunate to hear that this keeps happening with Skype, since it is sadly one of the best free communication softwares I've found, and it's sad to say that despite how buggy it can be; granted Microsoft has been messing up on faaaaar too many of their recent updates and releases, gearing them mainly towards tablets instead of desktops (which they should just make a tablet with a specific OS for it and then make different software versions already). Sorry for the slight rant.

Something similar acctualy happened to me too, maybe they're having issues with their server?

I'd look into which ports each application is using. If there're any port collisions, that'll cause it.

Just did a quick search:
"Skype requires unrestricted outgoing TCP access to: All destination ports above 1024 (recommended) or. Ports 80 and 443."
"World of Warcraft communicates on port 3724 with the TCP protocol. The patching process requires port 3724, 6112, and 6881-6999."
