Ditto here darling. I just lost my entire tank of demenkin. :( The second guy had a very aggressive case of gill flukes that infected the other fish too, despite correct action to treat them. I watched them gasp their last two hours apart from one another... It was so fast that they halted in their tracks, just... Stopped. Nothing I could do to save them. Good thing they were in the quarantine tank, it has not spread to anyone else. Still though, tearful to have seen them go. I nuked the tank with potassium permaganate to destroy the pathogen with impunity after they passed, scrubbed everything, ready the filters and jump starting the nitrogen cycle again. By the time that's done, I'll look into others and yeast them straight away rather than wait and see if they are sick. Just have to assume all newcomers are carriers like, every dog has some level of nuisance fleas or something.

Fingers swollen and sore, as is back, and three paintings me and mom entered into local shows didn't get picked or won any awards, despite the fact that pure CRAP was on the walls. But at least our garden is clean. Pics forthcoming when I can push da buttons. *SNUUGS* I'm sorry about the wee ones. Demeikin? I don't think I've ever heard that name before.

Demekin are a Japanese variant of the telescope eyed moor. They are characterized in particular by their 85% split tail and butterfly fin. The penduncle (the "waist" leading to tailfin/cauldial fin) is a bit narrower and delicate looking than plain old classic moors by a fair margin, but otherwise have across the entire species the same googly eyes, velvet-chocolate to deep black matte colors and veil like finds all around....

Those little guys had so much potential for being so young yet. t.t :(

They were both so dark that they appear blue under direct lighting. Kinda like how a really deep brunette could display a blue halo or sheen under the right lights too. I think one of them would have faded to a deep bronze underbelly with age, the other silver... That is not to say that there aren't blue moors. They are a rare treat, and expensive if purebred for the characteristic blue or a semi permanent black jacket. My pretty pets were just the sort you pick out of a tank at the chain store places. So I was entirely expecting them to turn brassy-orange, silver... Sometimes they blache out completely white too as they are not held to top breed stanards and the genes are just not there to make the colors "stick". Other factors play into it too, but I rambled on enough about that... I am nuts over my wet pets. ;)
