Actually, that was a no-story. They didn't refuse anyone service. An editor sent a news reporter to a town to get the town's thoughts. Cue Memories Pizza: when asked if they were requested to cater a gay marriage wedding, they said they would not because it is against their beliefs. However, nobody had ever (ever) asked them to cater a wedding.

They said anyone is free to eat at their establishment.

They were literally and completely minding their own business. Republicans and law supporters turned them into martyrs, when all they did was answer a question. Sad, though, that they closed shop because of all the death and financial threats.

The reporter didn't intend for it to come out this way, and the editor is the real culprit; he makes the headlines, puts the material to paper, and was the one who told the reporter to head out there.
