Animatronic fursuit head-base - Video
Test-Video of the movable ears and eyelids of my 3d-printed nylon fursuit head:
This fursuit-head is not finished. The neck is not complete and the lower jaw was not adjusted for my jaw. I used a collar to hold the fake fur around my neck. The fur is a bit long in some places - it will be trimmed later.
I made the 3d-models for this head-base and printed them in Taulman Nylon with my Flashforge Creator 3d-printer. The head was printed in 618 Nylon, the eyelids in Bridge Nylon. The parts were assembled using Plaast (http://www.plaast.de/) - the teeth were made by hand.
I use bowden-cables to control the movement - no electronics, just pushing and puling on the cable. This is a very simple and cheap method to create moving eyelids and ears.
There is another video that shows the mechanics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BHXK4AS5YQ
You can get the 3d-models at Thingiverse:

The fur-cover can be detached from the head - sew-on-snaps hold it in place.

Nylon is really tough - I explained the advantages in this post: http://tioh.livejournal.com/104887.html
Taulman Nylon 618 does not smell bad - a little bit like popcorn.
