Eek. That is always a nerve wracking time. Living in the mid-west, well.. Sadly it happens all too often.
Just try and remember that tornado warnings are just that, a warning.. They issue them when there is rotation within the air, which could possibly produce a tornado. Not there actually is one.
another thing to consider, and this is not actual fact..
But it seems like 1 in 10 warnings will actually produce a tornado, and only 1 in 10 of those will drop down from the clouds, and 1 in 10 of those, will touch down ad cause any kind of damage.
It never hurts to be prepared though, and to have a healthy respect for bad weather.

Maybe play a game to distract your mind, while you take refuge in your basement. :)

There WERE tornadoes, though, in areas all around us (my cousin got one on film!) and a HUGE one in the county just to the east. :/

On a side note, I had a great desire to bring my PS4 downstairs when we were bringing other things down. XD

my brothers do that, grabbing things and taking them to the basement. You can always buy new things, you cant bring family back.

Actually, I think it was the stress more than a materialistic desire. It would allow me to focus, and take my mind off of things, help repel the fear and worry.

freaky stuff, every year tornado season starts, for me personally, when I start having dreams. Because of there frequency I'm not as alarmed anymore, as long as I can see a radar and have relevant information. They're kinda like big mean trains... they go in straight lines and you hope you are not in its path.

Sorry if I sounded like I was downplaying the danger of a tornado. that wasn't my intention. Having been through many, living in the mid-west, I've definitely seen the destruction they can cause.
I've just known a few people who would be in tears, over the fear they have when there is a tornado warning. Statistically, it's very low that one will hit you or I during any given storm.. was just trying to ease worry with a statement like that.

Oh no, I didn't think that at all. I just figured you thought it was just a warning and didn't realize there actually were tornadoes. It probably also comes down to the fact that you don't know me well enough. As stated, I really don't have any fears (and certainly nothing as trite as spiders or heights), and I rarely get upset or frazzled. I'm calm to the point the people actually rely on my cool-headedness in stressful situations, so this was a pretty big deal.
