An Unfortunate turn of events...

General
Well... heck where do I even begin? These past few weeks have been really busy... to the point where I've been pulling 9hr and 11hr shifts in pouring rain or scorching sunshine just to keep things under control at the ferry terminal. Easter weekend and all... but this easter weekend came with a blow I really didn't expect.
On Saturday I went into work at 10am, working until my usual quitting time of 5pm. When I came home I noticed nobody else was in. I thought they might have gone shopping or something and gave it no further thought, ordering pizza for dinner. Shortly afterwards my sister phoned and said Mum was in hospital. I asked why and she didn't say, just saying she didn't feel well. When she and Dad came home, I was told it may be leukemia. Within 24 hours she was transferred from Victoria's Royal Jubilee Hospital to Vancouver General - the only facility in the province capable of treating leukemia patients.
Luckily I had a trip to Vancouver planned this week and so while there, I went to see her twice. She has a minor complication due to some congestion in her lungs, most likely pneumonia. She's on strong antibiotics for that and they just started chemotherapy. Today when we phoned she said she'd taken a turn for the worse, having difficulty breathing and no strength to even get up - the same as what happened on Saturday I'm told. This is going to be a long endeavor, she may be in Vancouver for months as Vancouver General is the only facility in the province that has the resources for leukemia patients. For about a month she had been complaining about odd bruises and strange bite-like marks on her body.
Anyways, yeah - that's what's been going on this last week or so. Just so you all know why I've been less active lately. :(
