Curious Trend

MOST RECENT STORY: Going Home: Chapter Two: The Discovery
IN PROGRESS: The Roommate (non-Pokémon story)
CURRENT DISTRACTION: Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War
I've noticed something odd about the page view levels of the stories I upload.
Whenever I upload a story that's a simple one-shot, such as http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2084026 or http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1993598 they get 100+ views in a matter of a day or two.
But whenever I upload a story that's part of a series, such as http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1882297 or http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1841327, it gets nothing in comparison.
I don't change my writing style between the two kinds of stories, so that can't be the explanation.
So what is it? Are readers somehow scared off by the prospect of a story with multiple parts? Is there something...intimidating (perhaps not the most appropriate word) about knowing that to get the whole story, you'll have to read all the parts?
Does anyone else who writes multi-part stories see this trend as well? (
ysrnty, I'm looking your way)

I've noticed that the general trend of reads seem to put short series with less reads than their one shot or epic saga counterparts. (if that makes any sense)
