General
Today, one of the artist I respect and admire the most (not that one) on this website and in general finally talked to me through a meme when somebody has to say something about you. And.....
I'm an "okay" artist, whose art style is much too 'stylized' and waste his talent in obviously many ways.
...
I'm just.... speechless.
And I know that as an artist, I should be able to accept criticism and learn from it. But what is there to learn ?? HOW am I supposed to take that in any good way, especially from somebody you look up to (and he knows it) ??? It just crushes your spirit in to ashes, that's what.
........Sorry guys, I just wanted to let it out of my system.

Après je suis pas un artiste, j'ai surement pas le même oeil qu'un artiste en herbe, mais j'avoue que je suis un peu surpris et curieux
I know easier said than done, but don't let that get you down. There are certainly some improvements that can be made with anatomy and perhaps lighting/shading, but otherwise you've got your own style and you're definitely NOT an "okay artist", you're very much above that and you've got a good thing going. Improve on what you have, not by what others' opinions are that's based on their personal tastes.
Tu n'as pas besoin de prouver que tu es un bon artiste, on est beaucoup à le penser :)
Pense à toi, écoute un peu de Kill La Kill (Before My Body is Dry) ;p
Sinon, c'est vraiment débile comme réaction (pas la tienne ^^)
You want constructive criticism? You'll get it, but that guy did no such thing. Work on anatomy and shading, its especially difficult to get human and animal anatomies down and then hybridize them together which is what furry art is. Study them separately, mesh them together, find what works for you and improve on that. I assume that's all said and done already since you're pretty awesome, now work on perfecting that. Me personally? I LOVE those ridiculously detailed and hyper realistic art styles. I would draw like that. (If I could draw lol). If you do like the concept of becoming more realistic, what I noticed is textures. Textures textures textures, lots of it. Lots of individually drawn fur, scales, etc. Its a BITCH of a time consumer I'm sure but there is where the difference lies if you wish to do something like that. Of course, this is just me giving advice on what I would draw like if I could mind you, take it with a grain of salt. And most importantly, you keep doing what you like to do. Don't be afraid to experiment with new things. Maybe some crazy coloring style? Who knows? The sky is the limit and as long as you keep reaching, you'll always improve. Good luck!
Dude, your work has been consistently amazing for a long period of time, you are growing better and faster. Theres a lot of things I could say, and sure there are improvements taht you could make, but at the same time you are a cool person and a fantastic artist. Just keep going and you will grow larger and better. ^w^
So nyeh on him! Nyeh, I say.
I respect his artwork, but I'm sorry you found out he's not a person deserving of your respect. Don't let him affect you, and stay classy. :)
You had an awesome art, and who say other thing *Recharge Shotgun* He or She had to talk with me B)
You are very talented :) and I hope everyone who watch you or follow you thinks the same ^^
Talking about Critic, just enjoy what you do, don't let anyone make you feel bad about it, not everyone is perfect, but you can do the things better or do it how you like it
IS YOUR STYLE, NOT HE STYLE
Love your work like everyone here do ^^ (Including me)
I know that must've hurt to hear that from one of your favorite artists that you look up to.
First of all, that's just plain ol' regular criticism, not constructive criticism. Regular criticism can be good or bad, it all comes down from personal opinion, of course.
Constructive criticism is when you give your opinion and give advice that's supposed to help you improve in some way. The former can be either positive or negative but doesn't really help you improve much. The latter is usually positive because it's supposed to help you grow.
What that person said was anything but helpful at all. Even if he/she does know that you look up to him/her, they didn't even attempt to be considerate to give you at least some helpful advice to help you improve.
An "okay" artist? You? Naaaah! I think that you're excellent artist and if anything, I'd love to get some tips from you if anything!
There's no such thing as an art style "too stylized". Everyone has their own way of how they draw things and how they express them in their artwork. Whether it's realistic looking beast, a cartoony look or something really abstract, nothing is ever too stylized.
The last comment got me a bit furious. Everyone has a talent. Whether it's used for good or evil it is never wasted, because it has a use for something. I seriously think this person was trying to bring you down. It's one thing to bring a person down, but another to bring down to build them back up.
I suggest that you don't go back to this person if they're not going to treat you right or help you in anyway. Just move on and continue to do what you do best. Don't let him/her get you down! Keep up with your work!
best to ignore them (or sacrifice them to the Chaos gods)
What I would say is talk with the artist. Instead of sitting feeling crushed, you should ask them to collab or help draw with you. See what they're talking about.
If he had to use a meme to try and explain what he meant to you, it'd probably be easier for him to show you the kinds of things he means instead of saying them.
I don't know if he's grounded or not, but you said he was an artist you admire and respect and I don't think he intentionally meant to hurt you.
I don't know the relationship either, but I think that if he genuinely wants to help, he'll take some time to show you what he means. Few people are so cold blooded.
I've always been under the impression that if you make something that people like, you're already a success.
What sort of steps did the meme go through? Do you respect their examples of better than 'okay' artistry? It's a single standard made by some stranger.
I genuinely hope they meant well. Coz otherwise a lot of what everyone else has said is pretty valid.
