You can buy the house brand tagless teabags for about $1.25 a hundred From places like Walmart or Winn-dixie.

What about getting loose lead tea? It's cheaper if you know which brands to get and you get more out of the steep

We use 10 or 12 fill a small pot up with water and put them in the pot. Once the tea bag's flavor seeps into the water we let it sit for about 10 minutes. Than you take a pitcher fill up with the tea and add in some water to make up the difference. Usually it lasts my family a five days for four people.

You can also leave teabags in a pitcher in the sun. It helps the leaves steep and can stretch teabags a lot further!

So far, I've seen one article saying it does, and five articles saying green tea brewed sun-tea style helps reduce risk of stomach ailments and cancers. Being that tea doesn't have any natural carcinogens, I would find it weird if the method of brewing were to activate some foreign chemical that could do that!

But, I dunno. Maybe bag teas are different from loose leafs. Still, I'm not seeing anything, and I'd say go for it, if you wanted to try!

UV radiation gets trapped in the jug, no different than in a greenhouse, and absorbed into the liquid and the tea bags/leaves. My family stopped brewing our tea that way back in the 90's when my mom heard about it. While tea has no carcinogens, environmental factors alone can add them. It's all still highly debated, but if California thinks it can give you cancer, i'd say better safe than sorry and steer clear. lol That's just me though. Plus, brewing on a stove is WAY faster than waiting 6 hours for tea to steep in a jug outside.

It's like- something I do to pass the time in the summer. I just set out a jug before I leave for work, and I've been doing that for a few years! They sell it pretty openly here in New York, too, but hey- to each their own! if stomach cancer is what gets me, at least it was a tasty way out.

Depending on how strong you like your tea, you could consider just brewing it by the gallon. We make sweet tea in my house, about 5 bags boiled, then put in a pitcher with sugar, add water till full, that lasts about 3 days. I drink most of it though. lol But, brewing in bulk and refrigerating is a good way to go if you're on a budget.

I jit buy my tea in bulk from Republic of Tea since they're cans are only like 20 bucks for almost 50-something teabags...on the other hand I'm not one to drink yes daily at teatime. As an American I just end up eating junk food

Loose leaf tea is cheaper in the long run....a good black tea you can resteep about 4-5 times
