How in the world will posting this make it worse? Is it going to make people post more rumors instead of less?

The problem is that ignoring what people are saying is EXACTLY the problem, because that just makes it worse. If no one tries to stop the false rumors then that just lets them spread more.

What about those furs who were just ripping up Gideon Bibles and taking pictures of it? Those photos were being circulated all over Twitter. I'm not one of these uptight super-conservative Christians - but no matter what one's personal religious beliefs are, that's a super disrespectful thing to do.

Yeah, it was pretty widely circulated on Twitter (and again, the twerps who were doing it were actually posting photos of it themselves and bragging about it).

As I said above, I don't care if something is "widely circulated".. but if there were actual PICTURES.. that is quite another thing.

I saw those photos and I agree, I don't care what's going on through all of that... that is very disrespectful and not the right way to handle the situation.

yeah, I heard a lot of those rumors too, which were very unfounded and untrue... XP.

yeah that is what sucks.. a lot of people are too stupid to know when something is painfully untrue, like 45 cars broken into.

I didnt get broken into, I carpooled up there. But it sucks for the people who were. I feel for them.

Yes sadly a lot of those rumors are just that...rumors. however, at the same time, there was a lot of things that were true as well. A few of my friends had stuff stolen from them. One was a wallet. Although to be fair, she did get it back...2 hours after she left....minus the money.

There was also personal things broken by valet, a car dinged by valet....Accidents happen yes...although when one hides the accident and then like dumbass does the Same Thing Again thus breaking said item..twice...ehh kinda sucks.

The Con itself...was disorganized, and honestly not a good hotel for fursuiters....however despite that there was a great time to be had as well.

Things that really did happen got blown out of proportion. like the game telephone. But i'm hoping that what did happen will be resolved.

Sadly things getting stolen happens at every con, but what happened at this con was blown way out of proportion. People were saying that things happened that didnt.
It sucks that those things that you mentioned happened to them.

I would have to disagree about the disorganization though, this is a big and very complicated con and the people running it are very good at what they do. Of course they will always be hiccups, but no more here then any other con.

I think I'm going to respectfully agree to disagree with you on the way the con was run.
It was my experience that it was disorganized in several ways.

Such as lack of communication, most of the panels being late, the fursuit parade was insane. No one knew which way to go, getting stuck at the bottom of an escalator.

Now bare in mind I'm not saying the con sucked. I am saying however that next year, it will most likely be run a lot smoother if those on staff listen to some of the constructive critisism.
My own personal opinion is while the hotel was lovely, it was not good for those that suit. Which is sad. but that, is just my own opinion and bares no reflection upon the con staff.

The panels being late would really be the fault of the people running them.. A lot of time they are not staff members, they are people who have asked to do panels.

I am curious as to what kinda of lack of communication you saw? When I was on staff, everyone had a ear bud so they can talk to each other. I ask because it am honestly curious.

Panels perhaps yes. It is always hard to get those moving. And honestly as far as con activities are concerned, I only know what I was told by those that were there. Since I found navigating around the hotel both hot and rather difficult to do, I didn't go to any events.

In fact I had no idea what there Was for events, for if there was a program or something that people get when they get their badges...I didn't get one. So I have no idea what was going on.

The biggest contention for the lack of communication has more to do with pre-con rather than At the con. And that is not something I'm willing to talk about here. And I do believe the person to talk to about it is whoever it is that runs the programs such as the talent show.

However, most of that is about as taken care of as it's gonna get. Which sadly wasn't very well done. But it's ok. things happen for a reason. I'm sure there was good reason for what happened.

In the end, I am sure that next year, things will be a lot smoother for both the staff and the con-goers. I have found that with hotel switches things get crazy all around.

While I do not have a mile long list of examples to give you, I only have what i experienced. And what my friends experienced. Things could have been worse, and things could have been better. That is the way of the world. Everyone experienced the con differently.

For me I had a blast; with my friends. And in the end for me, that is really all that matters.

There is no such thing as a large event, like a con, where everyone is happy, and nothing gets stolen. Rumors or not, most people are aware of this. Most will choose to ignore any rumors and have a great time despite them. Some will chose to repeat the rumors or dwell on them, and have a bad time because of them.

The problem is the minority of people who DO spread the rumors, and even the people who don't try to listen to the rumors will hear them and it still will resonate with them. That is the problem with rumors spreading, it goes to people who don't normally hear them and by then it sounds like truth.

Yes, that was one of the two incidences that I meant

I did not hear any of those rumors, only that a famous fursuiter had her truck and trailer stolen, and that a lot of people were put off by the new hotel.

I was made privy to thefts happening around the con floor by people not associated with the con primarily because I had a friend who witnessed it. But that was only on the first day, and after that they had police patrolling the hotel for the rest of the weekend. I myself had an umbrella get stolen, but that happened outside the hotel.

One suit maker did indeed have a truck and trailer stolen, sadly. That was not a rumor.

As for the hotel, no matter what people will complain about it. Yeah it was warm, and the elevators were a bit of a pain, but it was MUCH better than the elevators last year. Overall I think the hotel was better than the last one.

Sorry you had an umbrella stolen. That sucks. Unfortunately things do get stolen at a con, it is the nature of the beast. What got me mad was the fact that people were just blowing it way out of proportion.

I wasn't there for the whole weekend (nothing to do with the con, I had a wedding to go to) , but it was a pretty good con. I got to see a lot of people I hadn't seen in a long time, which was nice.

There was a fursuit maker that had their car and trailer stolen. That one is not a rumor. And there was one other break in. That is all. Just two.
