Introducing myself
I'm so bad at this, but here goes...
I'm a freelancer living in my studio, and I have been away from the art scene for a little too long, educating myself in the fields of science and living life in other places. I really want to get the ball rolling on custom work now for people so I can purchase more canvasses and paints since I've run out. Hence, why my gallery/portfolio is barren, a lot of my other works are years old, different.
I'm a little quiet but I love talking about art when I get started. I've made a couple outstanding friends so far and I really want to make many more to help widen the art world in my mind and in others.
My favorite artist and inspiration is A.E London, and I hope to learn about more amazing artists that laid the foundation for art today.
Who are your favorite artists? What's your most favorite style of art? What do you like about my art?
I want to get to know a few of you a little better, where your hearts are for the arts.

About your question, I have not a favourite artist, I have a bunch of artist who I like to see and inspire myself of. But I know quite in clever position that arts will never be my main job, just something in side of another job, as best half of the job (future, maybe) but we can't actually know what can happen exactly in the future. ^^
What about your art ? You have such interesting style, you know angular think.
Many lines who work together and never make a mess, alive quite realistic, but with that dreamed part. A part from your imagination. High contrast and dynamic.
That's the points who makes me liking your art. And your small icons on every drawings drives me curious about who you are behind that art. Not what you look like, but who you are what are you trying to show sometimes more deeply.
:3
You have the choice in life to do whatever you want. It's extremely good to know what you can and can't do in art, although with optimism I believe anyone can draw anything if they try
I love that you admire my work so much and see this in it, you're an inspiration to me too. I love that you speak your mind.
There's no a best, but all nuances makes the life like artists :3
Right if we find the will and the path we can do a lot of things that we want, but not everything. (But near)
And sometimes mind speaking is too raw, one of my weakness.
Near is more true, as we all have strengths and weaknesses that make us, us
More than just politically correct.
Yes without weaknesses or strengths we would not be us, us. Your words are good and warm anyway. ^^
They also have sales often. Once the were getting rid of the Copic Wides and so the were selling markers that were normally 8$ each for 1.50$ each. They frequently have 2 for 1 deals too. Might help you replenish your supply.
I'm the same way, really struggle talking about myself and art. I'm sure for different reasons, I tend to be shy and fear I may come off as self-loathing.
I must admit I had never heard of A.E London. She has some gorgeous works! She's very highly skilled and I can see why you like her stuff. Definitely found someone new to keep an eye on.
As for myself I love Beatrix Potter, Norman Rockwell, and James Gurney. I love when people draw realism but it still has this touch of stylization to it. You know what I mean? Everything looks realistic but there's something in it that makes it the artist's own.
It's something I hope to achieve someday.
As for style, that's really broad, heh. I can fall in love with just about any style as long as the artist has an understanding of light and form. I have my preferences of course but I've found I can fall in love with styles I've never given much though to, "chibi" for example, as long as the artists shows those understandings.
I tend to appreciate technical skill more, so I guess realism is pretty up there for me, but not necessarily hyperrealism. As I mentioned I like the touch of stylization.
As for your art, well the realism for starters. Yeah, it pretty much goes back to things I've stated, your art displays everything I look for in art.
I also envy people who can show form without the use of heavy contrast, something you do superbly!
Thank you for thinking that of my art, that makes me grin. I know I have a few places to gain more control in but I'm happy that right now, it stimulates a good feeling in people.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and those artists. I really enjoy their work too
You're welcome, every artist no matter how advanced always has room to improve.
I love that you shared so many artists, I don't think I've heard any of them before, but your taste in art is a lot like mine so I'm going to have fun going through their galleries, thank you.
Art is the best world
and tons more!
Outside the fandom, I like Van Gogh, Robert Kuhn, and many others whose names I can't recall because I'm uncultured like that.
You have some really nice stuff yourself. I hope you're able to expand your gallery.
I'm such a sucker for realism. But especially stylized realism. Which is probably why it's a little hard for me to get very attached to old masters, since they're very by-the-book and as real as real can get. Impressionism has always been fun, but it was something I was never good at in college. I appreciate it from afar for the energy it has.
Your work, for me, falls into the camps of shape and lighting. I'm in absolute love with how angular your stuff can feel at times, yet always completely believable and full of life. And the values. Ugh. SO good. I'm a sucker for solid layers of value and tight control of them. I wish I had that sort of ability. So your stuff is, like, the dream, the goal. And I don't come across grayscale artists often -- I spend so much time worrying about color recently that it's a breath of fresh air to get a reminder from your gallery of how strong grayscale can be on its own. It makes me want to pick up a pencil and try even harder at traditional works every time. Maybe I will. Hmm.
Multi-faceted people intrigue me the most, they see art through many levels and use what they know to inform their viewers directly.
Man, my favorite artist? I would say old Android Jones, with his 1000 self portraits. Looking at his approaches to the face, color studies, rendering techniques, he reduced a lot of complex information daily to present it in a professional manner. That body of work alone is enough for me to be able to study for years.
I greatly enjoy looking through a lot of game concept art books where the artists are given creative freedom with their designs. People like Yoji Shinkawa, Ayami Kojima, Fumito Ueda knock my socks off with their gestures and technical skill. Japanese concept artists to me push their individual art the furthest at the highest levels, even though I think there are plenty of exceptional artists that have worked on fantastic games. I have a lot of respect for games because it forces you to think of characters in every angle, shape, pose, and if it's not readable, it means you didn't design your character or the setting well.
Mangas also influence me recently. The art of Katsuhiro Otomo, Kentaro Miura, Akira Toriyama are all highly technical. Every page is a masterpiece, and their aesthetics continue to develop as their comics do. It shows they knew what it took to adapt over the years and hone down their pipelines to ridiculous levels of mastery.
Studio 4ºC makes some of my favorite animations like Tekkon Kinkreet, Genius Party, Animatrix: Kid's Story. They convey movements and gestures in motion that are simple to draw, complex to move. It blows my mind. There are plenty of other animations out there that are worthy of noting, but my brain references these films first.
I hope to learn a lot from A.E. London! I'm excited.
i'm bad at talking about art if i have to start and i don't really have many favorite artists [besides stig], i'm more of a take-what-i-can from an artist and run haha. and i'm bad with names so i never remember them even if i fall in love with an artist's style. most of the artists i like are from FA or DA, i'm not big into art history because the subjects they had in the past bore me a bit. i guess human subjects bore me in general. so you can imagine i never cared much to look up past artists.
i don't read comics or graphic novels either because i don't have the patience. so i'm just here like, yeah uh i like this furry artist and this one, who are all these people you're talking about? xD so incultured.
but i'd love to listen. i hope you're going to make some journals in the future on art blabbers. :3
I'm partial to great use of color too, John Singer Sargent is and will always be one of my favorites
Some more contemporary artists I'm into include George Pratt and Kim Jung Gi
George Pratt those strokes and use of color, I NEED IT
and Kim Jung Gi is just an incredible draftsman
I love the angular quality in your lines, it creates so much interest, and I think you have a lot of dynamism in said lines.
I thank you so much for sharing.
I hope some how to discover a way to great such a strong atmosphere in my work
I also hope to harness something like that in my work
Words can't even describe it.
I don't really know what my favorite kind of style of art is but these are my favorite artists Anders Zorn, Caravaggio, Bernini, Range Murata, Jiraiya, Albrecht Dürer, Li Guijun... just to name a few honestly. I love art that can be dramatic and tell a story, and the way the atmosphere is presented. I guess Romanticism, Neo-Classical, and Baroque are my favorite styles of art. Honestly talking about this makes me wish I still had some cash left to buy more charcoal and white conte, not to mention more toned paper and more sketch pads. ... I miss my figure drawing class T__T
What I like about your art is how angular it is, and how dramatic it feels to me. The little accents you add here and there make the pieces interesting and it really makes me happy to see that. It's an inspiration to me, and that is always good in my books! For me it takes the eyes all over the place, exploring every little thing.
It's something I hope to achieve some day.
Also I can relate a bit to departing from the art scene for a while in order to get other experiences. I turned down a few extremely good art job positions to join the Marines for a few years and go to Afghanistan, which definitely influenced my work in new ways and gave me story ideas rooted in a physical experience. So I'm kind of trying to repopulate my galleries and rebuild an online presence now too.
As for favorite artists... God, so many, and I go through different phases where I'll be gawking over one artist before moving to another. But I'd say I'm most influenced by French graphic novels and Heavy Metal magazine. Alex Alice, Claire Wendling, Moebius, etc.
The stuff you do in graphite is pretty stunning, by the way. Kind of makes me want to give it a try. I've found pencil drawing to be so frustrating up to now, but ought to try and change it.
Again, your work is awesome. :D
