A fursuit head belonging to
WayaJarrard known as Waya Lockheart, was stolen out of the headless lounge at FWA sometime Sunday. I would like to ask all of you to keep and eye out for it. Here is a link to the head in question:

There were a lot of thefts going on at FWA this year, and the hotel was playing host to two other conventions during the time FWA was there. It is probable it was taken by someone outside of the fandom, but it is not unheard of for desperate furs with no money to try stealing fursuit pieces to pass off as theirs at local meets. That's why it is always a good idea to spread information like this around, in case someone has it and recognizes it.

Seems like FWA is getting a bad reputation for this sort of thing happening. I agree, get the word out and press criminal charges for the person(s) responsible.

There were some homeless people that kept roaming the hotel. I ran into them when I first got there, and I ran one of them out of the headless lounge Sunday night. As soon as I said "Where's your badge?" he took off like a bat. The hotel HAS to know these guys were coming in, but didn't do anything about them, so I lay the blame at their feet. Draconis and I talked with Tiger Nick about this on Monday before we left for Memphis. I am sure it will be addressed. You should give a bit of forgiveness to FWA as this was their first year at this location.

I don't really blame FWA for the thefts, as that is more or less out of their control. That said, it did not feel like this con was very secure, as people from outside kept wandering into places they should not have been without badges. Reports of theft were bad enough that we had police patrolling the hotel after the first day. It is hard to separate rumor from fact, but I don't remember this ever being a thing last year or any of the years prior that I attended; So I am inclined to believe that we had more incidents happen this year. But like you say, it is the first year at this hotel, and having the con so spread out means it is going to be difficult to secure effectively. Hopefully con staff will have a better idea of what to expect next year and will be better prepared for such things. I notice right off that we're moving back into a March time slot, so maybe we'll be brushing up against other conventions less?
