Say "hi", maybe a username if we've talked before on twitter or something (I have a very hard time putting faces to names unless I've hung out with you for a while, so please don't be offended), and then business as usual!
Rules of engagement (physical contact)?
In fursuit, yes, but please no surprise hugs. Make a gesture first so I know what's coming! :P

How do I know if you're not looking to socialize (angry, busy or upset)?
I'll generally say that I'm in a rush if I'm out in the con space. But if I'm upset, I'll generally be away from people to not spread my sad funk. I doubt I'll be upset though! It's a convention! :D
