Zero turn mower Vs normal turn mowers.
My grandmother recently bought a new zero turn mower for her lawn that I mow. I got my first chance to use it today and it was an awesome machine. First you don't sit above the mower like you do with what could be called a normal mower/tractor, you feel like you are sitting in an easy chair. The zero turn feature coupled with the 20 inches more of mower deck cut my time from three hours to one on 2 acres. The Kawasaki V twin engine powering the thing is quieter than a single cylinder engine of the last one I used.
The steering wheel on a lawn mower is ancient history for me now.

FA+

Those are the REALLY fun ones.
A few years ago I dumped two months pay on a Husqvarna zero turn, with a twin cyl.
I can't say enough about Husky quality.
Only flaw so far is that the deck bearing hubs are modular and expensive, but they can be pressed apart and higher quality sealed bearings installed for a fraction of the price.
Hell, you could get a Harbor Freight press and six bearings for the price of a single hub, probably.
I put a big ass roll bar on mine with KC lights. It seemed like a good idea at the time... The lights are useful, but the bar is a pain if you're trying get under a tree or something.
The only thing I use the tractor style mower for now is towing the 40 gallon sprayer tank.
my farm has a 8 foot tall retaining wall and a rolling hill above that to flat grade, tried once with a cub cadet tank and it was fine but the machine was so heavy it sunk in the ditch line. tried a Husqvarna and it floated across everything but on the hill it slid side ways and dropped off the retaining wall, I was fine but Husqvarna had to come pick up what was left of their demo machine.
zero turns have their place but they are not a do all.
ended up with a Husqvarna with the weight brackets front and rear, put weigh on for the hill take it off for the ditch, but have had a couple warranty clams already and its 9 months old. the pulley on the motor was loose and came off wrecked the clutch the pulley and the belt, then one of the aluminum brackets that holds the control lever on broke of, replaced both with a thicker bracket. (recall) after that the lights on the sides, they are mounted to angle brackets. the brackets started to shack and wobbled something fears, ends up the bearings in the deck went out... like all of them.
on a mower with 211 hours mowing 2 acres.
but to wrap things up I strongly believe I got a lemon. and it is a vary comfortable machine to operate when it is working.
