Ah... that being said I have a question about Patreon
So I see a lot of people using this and I somehow feel it is being abused.
I was thinking that maybe if people wanted to pledge$x per month I could send people Art cards, or small prints, large prints for large donations etc... like real physical items. What do you think about that? I call them donations because I would like to use the extra money (after printing and shipping fees) to help out a few people I know. For example, I helped a friend with her Childrens hospital fundraiser, I have also contributed to Animal shelter, cancer support, and I know a person right now that could really use a helping hand....
Also what about fees? I know there is a 4% fee for credit cards etc, but I didnt find much info about other fee's. Also paypal and square offer subs and similar things. I was thinking it could be some kind of image that was limited to subscribers only. Everyone would see it online etc (im not going to hide images from non-paying subscribers) but only subscribers would get signed prints.
I feel that if I actually give you something it is worth your time. I'm not a fan of people using patreon as a way to get "money for nothing and chick for free"

The reason I thought of prints or cards is because I think people forget that I have them lol. Some people find out and they go crazy like OMg I never knew you shipped things!!! Also it's easy, like $1.
Personally I prefer that people buy when they want to rather then subscribe but Patreon is also an alt to paypal for 1 time payments. If people don't want to use paypal I suppose this can work as well.
Well, if you do start a patreon and offer physical things, even if it is after certain amount has been collected for the person, sounds like a deal I'd consider!
What I had thought of was maybe I could make something annually such as a pin up which would be printed and sent only to people "sponsoring me" like making a "limited edition" print.
Or some special item which only a sponsor could receive.
For example, maybe something like $1.25 per month gets you a special 4x6 print, and $5 per month gets you a bag. Just some ideas I had, but I would like it to be both simple and affordable.
Its not something that I would expect to support me but more something to help motivate me to create more art and get my name out there at the same time!
But yeah, a patreon like that would surely be woeth subsciibbing to. But hey-- the idea of 'sponsoring' is to 'support what the artist does'. Which reminds me of some artists that did stopped doing art because they found a job or something. So...that could be it.
With your idea, you're not just motivating yourself to do art, you'd be motivating the supporters as well! :P
Thanks for your input :3
But anyway, giving art to pledgers seems something others and I would highly be interested in because we actually get a little something for our money! It's also like basically making small payments on a commission and after a while we get the commission, if you think of it that way haha. So basically it would be like your commission rate increased = $$$ in yo pockets and art in our mailboxes... Or computer screens... Or cellphone screens... Or... Yeah, whatever... You get the point.
Wow, I dont think I could ever do that...I really value the comments and the input I get from my veiwers and not everyone can afford to spend money all the time. O wells, on the other hand good for them I suppose, if you can have a fan base that big, just wow. Howvere I prefere that my art can be enjoyed by everyone
And that's what I'm saying, not everyone can afford to spend money all the time, which is why I think these artists are being unfair. And is why I'm "un-supporting" them...
I stopped donating/buying/ looking at their artwork... It sucks because one of those was a good friend for about 3 years. Suddenly he kept pressuring me to buy buy buy and I just, gave up talking to them.
I know, just like you know, some people change... With greed...
