Until Further Notice ALL Auburn Furbowl meets in the future have been canceled...
Hey there everyone! Before everyone jumps all over and assumes things and goes crazy with questions let you all hear the details directly from me.
Literally over half of the people who show up to the Auburn Furbowl do not bowl. This has become a major problem (especially when 30 out of 84 bowl) and I agree 100% with the bowling alley that it wasn't a fair thing for them or for their other patrons. They were going to charge a $5.00 cover charge to which I was in full support of. Alex fought very hard for us and I will not tolerate anyone giving him any slack for the decision of the management there to charge the bowlers this cover charge as well. I have decided that until further notice that there will be no more Auburn Fur Bowls. I fought very hard to lower the price for the bowlers and due to the HUGE number of non bowlers that price has gone back up *sigh* I'm sorry guys. Please refrain from getting angry at AMF as it's a place of business designed to make money and it's their right to ask for a cover charge. I disagree with the bowlers also having to pay this so I cancelled the meet. If you want someone to blame, blame me for not being stronger by enforcing people to only attend if they were going to bowl. What does this mean? It means that the Meet and Greet will just be able to go on longer smile emoticon Take the positive out of this guys. We will still hang out ok? grin emoticon

It's gotten to the point where the bowling meets... intended for bowling, have become a hang out lounge and it's really not fair to the alley for us to do that.
Over half my attendees now don't bowl...
I hold the meet and greet before hand for that purpose lol I'm just excited they are going to do this for us! It's a win win!
My meet has been joked about being "The Auburn Mini Con" and that's actually what it's going to be now!
A fun place (extremely low cost) where furries can come hang out and play games in a fun safe environment in large quantities!
It's not too big but it should be fine for us... I hope XD
That being said, with my schedule I couldn't attend this bowl one more time before I moved, which kinda bummed me out, but seeing this made me realize that there may be a need for change in the furry community as far as venues for hangouts are concerned, because to be honest most people who go to bowling meets won't bowl, and they can't be forced to do so.
I definitely agree with you that no blame should be placed on AMF for this, the main reason why furries are allowed to bowl at these places is because it's supposed to increase business for bowling alleys, not take business away from them.
Still cheers to you for running such a highly talked about event and such a massive one at that! Finding a bowling alley that allows costuming, has changing space, strikes a deal for folks that aren't bowling and running a furbowl in general is brutal work! Why we almost freaked out when Ryan Family amusements for the Cape Cod MA Furbowl went under construction. I do hope to come to one of the Meet and Greets though :)
