Adventures on "shuffle"
Well, not much going on here. I am officially in danger of drowning in my junk, so some SERIOUS cleaning, organizing, thrift shop donating is going on. However, I have been listening to various music on last.fm and discovering some interesting stuff by just just following the "if you like X, you might like Y" trail. Especially for a lover of words and stories such as myself . . .
Mineral Rights by Leslie Fish
The story of Star Trek's “The Devil in the Dark” from the Horta’s point of view.
I would also like to share Acts of Creation that illustrates one reason why i bother to keep spitting on this grindstone of creativity . . I also notice that one of the rules for music on the internet seems to be "if it exists, a parody will be made"
Kathy Mar also sings a wonderful song that i think i am just going to point to every time somebody asks about my faith -- "The Word of God"
Actually, if you have a taste for fantasy and/or folk ("filk") I would recommend anything by Kathy Mar, but especially Velveteen, with a special shout out to
vixyyfox . . thank you, Vixyy, for reminding me that fur can be Real

I was thinking of you when i was listening to such interesting music. Specifically thinking about the essay you wrote describing your "foxyy" self crawling toward the light -- the connection of your log in. Sometimes music feels like that to me. Less controlled than the writing (not that THAT doesn't lead to surprises as well) but more, i don't know, "organic." Not a creation so much as a discovery of something that was always there but was brought out by someone else's music (invocation?)
or, put a little differently, Pleasure Island is nice and I the donkey ears are cute, but i have to learn to waltz without stepping on my tail . . .
you are such a wonderful creature Tippy...

"The Velveteen Rabbit" was always one of my favorite stories. >^_^< I like how she turned that around to a more human message as well.
Good stuff. Thanks. >^_^<
it seems the album that "Acts of Creation" is from is also out of print :P I e-mailed Prometheus Music to see if there is an alternate source or re-release plans *sigh* Time will tell.
