Happy Friday folks! A neat day today; the 25th Anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope. Being old as dirt, I remember the years leading up to launching the telescope and how much insane precision work was going into making it. I also remember the huge disappointment when they discovered a calculation error had resulted in the mirror being 2 microns off in its focus, resulting in blurred images. It ended up being a minor setback though as a mission soon after added hardware to correct the problem, and we have gotten thousands of the most incredible pictures of our universe since then. It allowed us to see better, further, than we ever had before. Also... I got my new vehicle! Traded in Silver (my 2003 Dodge Dakota) for a 2015 Kia Soul EX+ in Fathom Blue (which I just love the colour of). Ugh... well not quite an even trade there - I think Silver only paid for the wheels and a door handle of the Soul. :P Really enjoying it so far - I miss the roar of the V8, but I definitely don't miss the amount of gas consumed to make said roar. Now... hopefully I can enjoy a vehicle that's problem-free for a few years. :)

Also a BIG thank you to the folks who donated to  KaynusVulfe's "Furries for a Cure" cancer run - thanks to a bunch of paw-lovers, he was able to surpass his donation goals for the run. You guys are awesome!

Wow, two paw-mails in a row with human pics. O_o These are pretty nice though - Footografo has a good eye for nice feet, and actually knows how to use a camera properly to get good pics of them. :P This beautiful foot belongs to the model Alessandra, who has a gorgeous arch, heel and nice large toes. Imagine seeing that riding your bike through a park or something - I'd probably end up in a ditch. XD

Character Highlight: Diamond!

Just a few days after the highlight on Sine from a couple weeks ago, I learned all about Diamond, who is another synthetic life form. Her owner, Turbo_McGogo, was nice enough to answer some of my questions and even nicer to happily agree to her being featured today! So, back-to-back character highlights on androids. Read on to find out more about her:

For questions, I started by pointing Turbo to the same sort of questions I asked EC Major about Sine, so here's a re-post of them and his answers. After that, I asked a few more, also posted below. :)

Q. I know she's an android, and I believe she's fully synthetic, correct? Does she have an origin story as to where she came from, who made her, and why? How self-aware is she; as in, is she just like a living being in terms of emotional, will power and such? While obviously incredibly attractive, does she herself derive anything from being involved in any levels of intimacy with others? Does she have any hobbies? (can be as innocent or crazy as you want really - just trying to help explain who she is to folks).

"She is fully synthetic, but is able to synthesize edible bodily fluids. She was created as an experimental prototype by a yet to be determined scientist for a yet to be determined reason. She is completely self aware and completely in control of all of her emotions. Simply put, she can masterfully put on any front she needs to achieve her objective, or switch off her emotions when a situation calls for it. She favors logic over instinct, and tends to lag when presented with paradoxical statements. Philosophical statements bring no such errors. Diamond programmed herself to enjoy all intimate interactions with her partner, Turbo. She requests that no anal interaction be performed as that is were many of her direct ports are located and they are difficult to clean. Her hobbies include anything involving scientific experimentation and problem solving."

Q. Now, Diamond has insanely attractive footpaw. Yet... they are synthetic. For a paw-lower, would Diamond like having them, say, massaged or pampered? Would she ever let people lick, nuzzle or do anything more playful with them? And more importantly... what does she get out of that in terms of feelings or enjoyment? And for anyone who got to touch, or experience her footpaws, what are they even like? Soft smooth soles? Do they feel synthetic or natural? Are they warm at all, cold? As you can see, they're certainly interesting because of what she is. Lot of questions will no doubt be in folks minds about them.

"Diamond's paw type depends entirely on the artists' interpretations of her. Most artists draw her paws like Sine's, but she is a plantigrade character. Her pads tend to be rough and rubbery to better grip terrain. Should her lover desire some form of foot worship, she can swap out her paw pads for smooth ones. She can heat or cool them to suit any situation, both locomotive and intimate."

Q. Follow-up question; Is there a Diamond-prime? Like a Diamond that you would consider to be the most evolved or individual of the lot?

"Diamond is a unique entity that is completely self aware and constantly evolving and learning. She is capable of self upgrade and can replicate single cell reproduction should her lover desire. This scenario is a very complicated subject that I'm still working the kinks out of. She does, however, have some drones of herself that she has direct control over. She has no desire to duplicate herself in any manner, so her drones are less aesthetically pleasing and built for function over form."

Q. You say she programmed herself to enjoy interactions with her partner; after doing it for a time, has it become a more natural enjoyment that she has expanded on? Does she have unique reasons for enjoying it (IE, her sensations might be different or her take on such things could be uniquely different from an organic being)?

"Diamond genuinely enjoys her interactions with Turbo. Her brain, though synthetic, functions on similar synapses and impulses as organic brains. This allows her to feel the same emotions as organics, though she has the option of turning them off when she needs or desires to."

Q. So the paw-pads are interchangeable - do they have any feeling themselves, or is that limited to other parts of the foot? Like... for example, if Turbo gave her a paw-rub, what sort of sensations would she derive from it?

"Diamond can feel as much or as little as she wants in the entirety of her body. She has more sensors in the pad than the foot as the pad is what is touching the ground most of the time. Also, most all of Diamond's body parts are interchangeable. Should Turbo tickle her foot, she would giggle and try to make him stop. Should he rub and lick, she would derive the same pleasure as a foot massage."

Q. You mentioned single-cell production: Diamond she can basically host a fertile egg and carry it for some time? And the drones are an interesting notion too - what does she usually use them for?

"Correct. She can host a fertile egg and override the genetic code already present with one she can replicate on her own. She usually uses the drones for general heavy labor, security, or hazardous exploration where her original form may become compromised."
