Things that make you think "monster"?

What sort of traits make you think of monsters?
Things like:
- tentacles
- extra eyes
- less eyes / no eyes
- extra mouths / large and/or oddly placed mouths
- big claws
- big things in general
- sharp/pointy body parts (claws, pincers, scorpion tails, like that)
- excess drool
- stitches and stitched-on body parts, or detachable body parts. Or missing body parts that are necessary to live.
I'm wanting to make a 'monster' version of Prism and all I can think of so far is giving her a tummy mouth and that's not exactly monster-ish on its own.
Then again I suppose the whole subject of 'monster' is extremely subjective depending on what different people find creepy/scary.

1. Big horns, especially when there are more than two.
2. Lots of teeth.
3. Bug-like parts (chitin plates, antenna, and mandibles, particularly when combined with a normal mouth)
4. Multiple limbs.
5. Internal glowy stuff.
6. Multiple heads.
7. Long tongue(s).
Just to name a few that I could think of offhand.
I wouldn't have thought about bug-stuff at first, but now that you mention it they do have some monstrous qualities, mostly because we're not as familiar with them and often associate them with being 'scary'
And multiple limbs is a REALLY good one too. I might actually try to incorporate a couple of your ideas here into the design.
Of course I'll have to be careful not to overdo it at the same time, but thank you so much for your input! I really appreciate it. <3
