Heya, I just wanted to let you guys know that Dragonoak is for preorder now. A friend of mine wrote this book, and if you like queer ladies, dragons and knights, you should definitely give it a look. The first part of the book is available for free too, if you wanna check it out first! I can only recommend it, it's really good.
Dragonoak is a high-fantasy, low-magic trilogy, totalling around 470,000 words. It follows the story of a necromancer by the name of Rowan Northwood, who runs away with a passing Knight after months of being ostracised by her village. Sir Ightham takes Rowan along grudgingly, but has her reasons for doing so. Not that it’s easy to get much more than a few words out of the woman.
What begins at a desperate attempt to find a better life quickly becomes something much more troubling–but in all fairness, Rowan never asked whether Sir Ightham was in exile or not.
Dragonoak takes place in a fantasy world without the limitations of the real world. The majority of the cast are queer women of all kinds, spread throughout all levels of society. It’s a story free of sexual violence, that still delves into issues like PTSD, depression and addiction. Being queer is entirely incidental; this very much isn’t a coming out story.
