Lincoln Continental on its way back?
I've seen this a couple times before in recent months. But it looks like the Continental is coming back. I think this car may save Lincoln as car sales on the MKZ haven't been what they hoped. And the looks of it the car is going to look amazing.

As for the Marks, here is the fourteen year old MK9 concept:

And then here is the eleven-year-old Mark X:

Agreed, Jalopnik covers this as well.
And given just how sexy the new Mu-tang is looking anyways, a coupe based off this latest version could be rather hot...
Yeah, there's lots of good potential from the monikers from the old Big M.
Talladega for a potential full-balls, NASCAR-running Taurus coupe'..?
I have to squint in concentration to remember that Torino was the little brother to the truly big LTDs back in the day.
What do you think the LTD2 *was*..?
And Taurus = Ford's Billion-dollar Grand Experiment that actually turned our right. It was *supposed* to be totes new from the wheels up. Unless you can give the citation needed?
Unless you wanna look at the Taurus as the first gen then t may of come from the Maverick-Pinto family.
Because saying that the Taurus came from Maverick/Pinto hardware is asking for a generous stretch.

Lincoln's enormous 1960 Mark V is the official heaviest passenger car ever at an even three tons. This space-rocket coupe is even heavier than THAT!
And it also had to be rewired out the ass to handle all the high-tech electrical demands. Not a surprise this didn't see production. So many potential problems...
As it was, you can see an awful lot of design elements that ended up of future Fords. That back end looks a lot like the 61-63 T-Birds, which as it turned out, shared some internal structure with the Continental of those years.
It's always a fun game to play Guess The Lineage with cars. All of GM's W-bodies; the Holy Ford Trinity of Crown Victoria/Grand marquis/Town Car; the three car pileup that went into Chrysler's C-300 and 300B.
Nowadays, it's gotten even wackier, esp. with the euro brands.
*insert nostalgic feelings here*
