Does anyone else have a grumpy antisocial HuskyMala cross

I just got myself a new dog he is a Husky Malamute cross and he seems to be settling in now apart from the stress I have been dealing with due to some external local issues.
anyway he gets on with the other dogs unless my hyper girl gets in his face when he just growls the rest of the time he just seems to like sleeping at the front door.
He doesn't seem to want to sit in the room with me an the others, just sulks doing his own thing away from everyone unless he is getting excited when he wags and husky talks as I get the coat on for the walk etc
any one else have a dog like this

Other than howling, the only word she even knows is GRRRRRR. For her, growls don't mean anger. She growls when annoyed, happy, trying to play etc.
would be nice to have him sit on the couch so I can show him off on web cam but I doubt I could get him up long enough to show him off
