EDIT: Apparently Valve has already taken down the program and are going to issue refunds. Good on them for that at least, but doesn't change the fact they they still tried to do it.
Hopefully if they do bring it back it will be a tip jar system so people can still back mods that are worth a shit while not rewarding the talentless mosquitoes swarming for their share of blood.
Valve is now allowing for mods to be sold on Steam, which of course they and publishers will take a cut of...

Here we go again, opening the floodgates for the bloody locusts to flood the workshop with their paid garbage. And of course neither Valve or the publishers will lift a finger or take some responsibility for this. Why would they when they will be racking in even more cash.
If in the next year or two Valve announces a subscription fee for Steam I would not be surprised at this point. And if they do...well, it was fun while it lasted, so long then.
